The biggest differences between the SIG P322 and the SIG Mosquito is...

SIG contracted GSG to design and make the Mosquito for them in Germany, whereas the P322 was designed and made by SIG USA.

After the SIG contract for the Mosquito expired and SIG discontinued supporting it, GSG continued production of it as a the Firefly.

Threaded barrel is a major bummer. I'm also curious why so many .22LR semi-autos come with external safeties when their full-sized counterparts don't. Yes the M17 has one because the military specified it, but it isn't popular on the P320.

        Wouldn't it be unsafe anyway?

They are often SAO with an internal hammer, so the manual safety is added in order to be able to safely carry it cocked & locked.

That is pretty darn cool. 25 round mags coming soon.

I'll have to get one when I move to free America.

Every 22lr semi-handgun I’ve owned that was patterned or made to be like a defensive center-fire handgun, I was disappointed in and sold. When it comes to semi-22lr handguns I stick to the classics, Ruger Marks and Browning Buckmark.

Now revolvers are a different story, if you have 586/686’s you absolutely should have a 617. Same with Ruger wheelguns.

                  Disagree. An L-frame .22 is silly big. I had a Model 18. A K-frame is as big as a .22 should get.

The SIG P322 is supposedly about the size of a P365XL, which is smaller than a 320.

Wow this blows the P22 and G44 out of the water. Would love to get one as a fun pinker range toy.
The back/rear of the slide almost looks like a toy since there isn't a backplate.

In what way did they disappoint you?

I have a S&W M&P22CA. Rock solid, no FTF or FTE with the cheapest plinking ammo I put through it. I use it for .22 steel shoots where three people share it all day w/o problems. Meanwhile there are some people shooting their single .22 pistol with repeated FTF/FTE problems.

Obviously you've had a different experience but that doesn't mean it's universal.

Different guns in different ways, from being ammo picky to disliking the control levers to just not liking the overall feel of the gun. I don’t use a 22 as a training aid, to me they are plinkers and as a plinker I prefer the accuracy of a Mark or a Buckmark, my MarkII is over 25 years old and just runs and runs and shoots constantly to point of aim. Same as with my much newer Buckmark, they are just easy straight forward plinkers no fuss no muss. Never had another type of 22lr that I could say that about, had a Ruger SR-22. Ran good, reliable but hated the backwards safety on it and the feel of it. The P-22 was extremely ammo sensitive, Sig’s other offering can’t remember what it was called was a train wreck.
I have heard good things about the M&P-22, but never shot one. But for me I’ll stick with the tried and true staples of 22 semi-handguns.

Just picked one up today in the Phoenix area. So far I like the feel of it.

Looks and sounds like a winner. Probably get one when they come around here in NV.
