Works fine. .22 in the ear works quickly, is humane, and doesn't over penetrate to create a mess or safety issue.

The local butcher put everything down with an Ithaca single shot lever gun.

I had to finish a deer off and had left my 22 pistol in the Scout. A .264 WinMag at a couple feet made mush of his skull.
