This thing is a lot of fun to shoot. Have not tried shooting a magnum from it. I sometimes wonder if I would have been better off just getting a pure .22LR revolver since so far its all I have shot. Anyone shoot .22 mag through a handgun? Is there any reason aside from more bang?

A friend has a Single Six Convertible and a bunch of magnum ammo he got cheap somewhere back in the day.
He prefers the extra power of the mag, even for plinking.
It's very accurate too.

Definitely more recoil, so be ready for it. I have a Single Six Convertible and shoot way more LR than I do WMR. These days, WMR is hard to come by. If it was more plentiful, I would shoot it more, for sure.

Maybe I'm unclear what "This thing" is your referring to or something is not showing on my computer- IDK.

The new Diamondback Sidekick looks pretty cool and I might be tempted to buy one if I ever see it in person. It has two cylinders for .22LR & .22 Mag.NRA & CRPA member

I have a Ruger New Model / Super Single Six (1976). Bought it w/ just the magnum cylinder.
I bought a Borchardt (aka Al Story) 22LR cylinder and a couple Ruger 22lr cylinders off eBay (new and old models). All three work perfectly.
I can't really tell the additional recoil of the magnums, and it's really easy to shoot both accurately. Lotta fun.
Love this gun.
I also have a Wrangler. It's fun to shoot too, but man, the Single Six is just beautifully made.

lots of comparison videos and articles like this 22 WMR vs. 22 LR
fortunately I have a lifetime supply of both for my entire family so I shoot either at will

even found this neat little convertible double action - fun with both
I started out with nothing - and I still have most of itComment

My first new handgun purchase was a Ruger Super Single Six Convertible with 6 1/2" barrel I bought in 1976. It was on sale at Kerleys in Cupertino for $87.00 and has the "Made in the 200th Year of American Liberty" inscription on the barrel.
Back in the 60s, my Boy Scout Master had a single six convertible that we used to shoot all the time (both .22LR and .22WMR). I really loved that revolver and planned eventually to get one. It took until 1976 for me to satisfy that goal.
Most of my recreational (and some hunting) shooting was/is with .22LR. But having the 22WMR option is real handy. Being that .22WMR was/is quite a bit more spendy, I only shot .22WMR occasionally. Over the past couple of years I concentrated on building up my .22WMR supply and now have about 1,500 rounds. I shoot it more frequently now.
I also recently bought a Ruger LCRx (3" barrel, adjustable sights) in .22WMR (Model 5437) and love shooting this also. This one is a handy SD handgun for around our little farm and I often carry it when I am mowing or driving the tractor for nasty critters that might go after me (various rabid pests from the creek and one time a pair of large attack dogs that got loose - never fired it yet but had it handy).

Be nice to find another cylinder for my Dan Wesson 22 for a 22 mag interchangeable conversion.
I was eyeballing one of those Heritage with 22 LR/WCF cylinders, but the front sight was cockeyed. It was around $210.Last edited by JTROKS; 12-10-2021, 8:30 AM.The wise man said just find your place
