.22 pistol - walther p22 or Browning 1911-22 for an "old man"

I have zero experience with either. price isnt a prob, but id rather not buy both and then sell off the "least favorite" .

I do like 1911's and have a rock island 380 which is very similar to brownings 22. Ive also had a walther ccp that is similar to the p22. I liked it but sold it to a family member.

I have the feeling I would like either as long as both are "quality". Does anybody have any experience or advice ? Id appreciate it

The browning 1911-22 is kind of a novelty, but it's the better of the 2.
I've had both and sold both; selling the browning was a dumba** idea.

Don't miss the P22 one bit. If you want a real keeper, get a Buck Mark.

Get a GSG 1911 or at least check it out first. Tons of fun and aftermarket parts.

You can also get a real 1911 and buy a gsg upper for it

If you have and like 1911s look into the Bob Marvel / Nelson 22lr conversion kits. https://www.nelsoncustomguns.com/sto...oduct_list&c=2 Fixed barrel, bullseye quality stuff and not all that much money. Also look at the S&W Model 41 if it's in your price range.

OP posted he has a rare 1911 .380, wonder if there's a .22 conversion for it...

If you ever poke into a P22 with an eye towards putting it back together again you will stick with 1911s for the rest of your days.

I have a P22. It's a fun little gun to plink with. My only issue with it is it is finicky with ammo.
I will stand for truth even if I stand alone.

Ive had a Ruger Mk3 sold to family. Loved her but had opportunity to get a smith victory, but I gotta send her back to the factory. the bolt locks open when the barrel is screwed to the frame "too tightly"... im hesitant to get another smith but i do like nice guns... gotta watch the vids from Hickok on the smith 41... is it cali "ok"?

Had a browning 1911-22, was a nice enough gun with not so nice sights. Did not feel like a 1911 to me really, although it had the same controls and shape. Something about it being tiny and so light just didn't work well for me.

I think a Buckmark is 10x the gun a P22 is and don't know about the 1911-22... but I have a GSG 922CA and I like that 1911 style .22 about 10x more than my P22. I would probably trade a Buckmark for the GSG though. P22 is definitely NOT quality.

If I had to..I would pick the Browning. The P22 would not even be in the running for me...But I do not need either..My favorite and they can only be bought used of course..Are my little LLama 1911 22 copies..I have one like new from 1956..And a well used one from 1960..They are heads above the new Browning copy in my opinion..Very well made..Real steel..100% reliable..Very cool looking if that matters

Also have a regular 1911 Lower frame I run a Colt Ace 22 conversion on top along with a 17HM2 barrel , so I can shoot that caliber too..

Just saying there are better options out there than both of those choices for me..

As some have said..If you do have a 1911 already..Look into a conversion kit..

Apples has a Browning 1911. It's a little smaller frame.
I shot it for the first time a couple weeks ago and I've been looking for one ever since. It's a beautiful gun and a good shooter.

He did say that he didn't like the sights. As bad as I shoot a pistol, it doesn't matter to me.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.
                            Happiness is a warm gun.

the honest opinions are very appreciated. I will avoid the walther, and perhaps look into a 22 kit for my kimber....
