Im not miffed, and I can understand high cap mags in other calibers, for work use but 22 thats more for playing.

According to my tax guy, any gun related stuff I buy can be written off. It's all marksmanship equipment that can be related to a job function.

It's part of training and familiarization. Practice, practice, practice.

You never know what you will encounter and may need to use to defend yourself. Just because you know how to use a Rem 870 doesn't mean that you can use a Mossberg or Winchester.

There was a situation where the local PD encountered a handgun in the road after a gunfight. (The good guys won.) They called out a known weapons "expert" to secure the gun. It was an Astra 600. The "expert" looked at it, picked it up (with permission), removed the magazine and cleared the chamber.

If I had been there.... there would have been no need to call anyone.

So, if you have a little Beretta .22 or a Desert Eagle, you can claim it as part of your training/familiarization expenses. The bonus is that you get to keep the "training materials". I also use them to teach others about them, when we go shooting.

Yeah, LEOs do have some bennies.
