    From what I have found:
    CCI MiniMags - flawless
Remington Golden Bullet: flawless after break-in using CCI MiniMags
    Federal Automatch: 80-90% flawless
American Eagle High Velocity (38 grain): %50 flawless.

I need to run FAM and AE through it again now that it's fully broken in and see if the failure rate is still the samee

Thunderbolts is the one ammo that I will never put in my gun again. I had one explode in chamber in my G19 AA kit - I ended up having to get a new bbl. I put the gun away and transitioned to my SW 617 - another one blew up in that gun with enough force that it dented the remaining rounds in the cylinder. My 617 survived, but it took over three hours to get it clean! Needless to say, I won't ever touch that stuff again. Glad to hear they work for you though.

All great suggestions and I appreciate it. I have heard the high velocity stuff is better for that gun.

I'm looking to buy my wife a new gun in 9mm and hopefully we can sell her P22 after that. But thank you for all the advice.
I will stand for truth even if I stand alone.

The Federal Automatch had extraction and failure to fire problems at least twice each mag. CCI Standard velocity had a failure once every two mags. I have some Thunderbolts and will try those on the next outing.
I use it to teach how to handle failures. It is reliable in that aspect.

only thing that works in my daughters jam-o-matic with reasonable reliability is Aguilla super hi vel. CCI mini mags is also ok, but still get jams. And its been back to factory twice.

Looking at Buckmark for her now and will cerakote it blue like her p22.

How does a 22 rimfire cartridge explode in the chamber and damage the gun unless the barrel is obstructed? While overloaded rounds can damage 22s you stated an explosion. While I'm sure with centerfire you could overload the powder or use the wrong type, in a 22 there is often not enough case capacity and no doubt you have the barrel - any pictures?

Granted, Thunderbolt bulk is least quality ammo but descriptions of exploding rounds seem to turn out to be something very different, pierced cases, split cases and so on.

At the very least I'd be documenting the incident and calling out Remington in a way to find out exactly what happened and hold them to account. BTW, AA specifies what ammunition to use in their conversions and they are very clear about it.

The 617 is a wheelgun, just how does a 22 rimfire explode with such force to dent the rounds in other chambers but then the gun is ok and just needs cleaning? If there is enough force to dent the other rounds in the cylinder then how did that happen without the chambers also being deformed? Did the round go off in a chamber not inline with the barrel or was it inline? The forces needed to do as you stated would be extraordinarily high. In either case, perhaps a 17HM2 might cause a high over pressure situation or in the case of a blocked barrel but otherwise it's hard to understand.

Even after there were serious failures with the ammo a second time there is no contact with Remington or even the gun manufacturers? Why not? If I had two round do as you say for sure I wouldn't just replace a barrel and clean the other gun and be OK with it.

I am not doubting something happened but this doesn't up without more info. Those are some serious concerns and it would be a great service to others if you got into more detail about what happened.

I have two P22's and a friend has one. We have never experienced multiple ftf/fte. Sure I have had an occasional one or 2 here and there but nothing to make me even think about selling it.

I guess I have been lucky with mine. And I use any and all ammo in them.

Plenty of people have these pistols and they work well. When some internet forums are pointed to a resource as to failures of anything its good to remember that those who don't have problems aren't running to the Internet to tell everyone but those that experience problems don't hesitate one second.

Even the websites dedicated to certain problems are just that, a website which is nothing more than a domain name and some words. Follow who says what and its usually the same thing, someone complains, others join in and then it gets replayed and reposted as if everyone is having the same problems.

Its like the Sig 320 issue. If everyone had the same problem there would be thousands of people who've shot themselves, thousands. Yet, its very few and diving deeper you find they probably weren't representative of anyone other than people just like them.

Some Walther P22 got through with less quality than they should. Yeah, and along with almost every other gun ever made including some really high priced brands and models. The Internet is full of posts about how bad Glocks are with videos of the aftermath of a blowup or something else. Right.

There are some guns that require plenty of tuning to get them to work well and if the gun is pricey then hey, why not put some $ into it or time and effort and then get it to work well. A cheap (and lets face it, the Walther P22 is a budget gun) the sky is falling, it's trash, sell it, never buy Walther (how dumb is that?) and just don't shoot it because it's not worth the cost of ammo. Pay some attention because that usually comes from those with lots of other problems with their guns and you gotta hate something right?

Sadly, the "Walther" 22 pistols are made by the air-gun company that bought Walther some years back and started making the pistols with pot metal slides that are prone to cracking---I won't own any---seen way too many that just won't function... My old 1969 Walther PP in 22 LR---an all machined, steel pistol---shoots 100% with most any ammo you stuff into the magazines---as it should...

CCI mini mag will work great. Most hv stuff is fine.

I have some quality "real" Walthers and they are great..The P22 is probably a low quality plastic fantastic I would never even consider owning..

But just try to find ammo that works if you can..I would say if it does not work with CCI mini mags, dump it for sure.. I keep no Firearms that do not function on pretty much any ammo I feed them..I learned that a long time ago..I have owned some real clunkers before I wised up..

If CCI doesn't work then something's wrong with the gun.
