Which Ammo For a Walther P22

Took the family out to Route 66 range today for some family fun. Brought a bunch of different firearms and had a great time. But my wife also brought her cute little pew pew, a Walther P22 in Tiffany Blue.

Damn thing kept jamming and not ejecting spent rounds. Tried both Winchester and CCI and had problems with both.

Anyone know of a brand of ammo that works well in that gun?
I will stand for truth even if I stand alone.

The Walther p22 is notoriously finicky with ammo. I have heard CCI high velocity works but I don't have a p22 myself.

I found Rem Thunderbolts work very good in mine a while ago. Confirmed again, shot 200 thru it a couple weeks ago with out any FTF or FTE with full 10 rnds in the mags. Make sure the slide is lubed enough.

CCI HV no issues with my kid’s P22.

Throw it in the trash. The guns not worth the cost of .22lr, seriously only gun I’ve ever sold. Ditch that anchor.

I love the ergonomics of the walther, but had to sell it. It kept either getting light strikes or not cycling. I picked up a used ruger mark 2.

                Try some SR-22.
If someone offered me a decent price on my SR-22 I'd off it.

Mine are everything except the truncated nose/HP’s - but the manual calls for CCI MiniMags if I recall.

Have same gun and had same issues. Could never get CCI to work. Have had great luck with Remington 22LR Golden Bullets and Aguila Super Extra High Velocity 40 grain copper plated.

That gun is notorious for malfunctions. A friend of mine had to clean his every hundred rounds, otherwise it wouldn’t shoot anything. As said previously, the answer is a Buckmark.

High velocity stuff. Augila Interceptor works well. Take a bore swap put it on a short rod and coat it with bore lapping compound. Give the chamer a quick polish.

The one other type is the 60 grain Aguila Sniper although now they call it something else. That ammo runs like butter in a hot pan. It works great, especially for plinking. It will keyhole at 25 yards but then it does out of most rifles too but really, who cares when you are just plinking and having some fun?

For those that say it isn't worth anything or is trash, I'll pay you twice nothing or the going rate for trash. Why keep something you hate when you can have $50 instead?

Factory recommends CCI mini mags for breaking in my wife’s P22CA. Did that with 500 rounds. Then, it shot everything after that for a good two years. Now, it’s a jam-o-matic with everything. I need to send it to the factory for an overhaul. If that doesn’t fix it, I’m selling it. No more Walthers for me.
