I'm thinking in my mind this would also apply to AR pistols as well. But I don't want to give up my HK 22lr MP5 pistol. I love that thing. Thank you. -Z
AR pistols as well as this MP5 22LR pistol must be fixed mag, with the mag locked into the receiver in such a way that the firearm must be disassembled to remove the mag.

There is a mag lock device for MP5 9mm, I have no idea if it would work in the 22LR
MagLatch MP5 is the only fixed magazine compliance device for HK 94/MP5 SD/MP5 Clones with or without a paddle style release. Bypass California's Assault We...

And mags must be 10rd or blocked to 10rd.

Thank you for the reply. So theoretically I install a mag lock & I also block the mag to only accept 1 round, would that make the pistol a single shot? Or would that be toting the line since the actual pistol is still technically semi auto? Since it's a blowback I'm wondering if I can change out the main spring to something heavier so the 22 won't be able to cycle. However be able to manually cycle the action by hand with the lever.

Just an idea I have yet to take the pistol apart. Any input would be greatly appreciated. -Z

The simplest solution is to buy the rifle version, that's legal here as is, you would only need 10 round mags or block the ones you have (which is very easy with them). If you really want the pistol, then it needs to be mag locked, but you can still have 10 round mags.

There is no reason to use a mag lock and make it single shot. It can be mag locked semi auto with 10rd mag.

            Threaded barrel

Didn't he say it had a threaded barrel? Pin or weld an end cap?

If it has a fixed mag it can have a threaded barrel. A fixed mag is the answer to AW pistol problems. And in the case of this type of pistol which takes a mag outside the grip, it is the best answer.

Other pistols with a threaded barrel that use a mag inside the grip (like a Mk23 for example) have better options than a fixed mag. Although pin/weld an end cap is very low on the list of options for most guns of this type, because that typically will capture the barrel forever into the slide. Better is a replacement barrel without threads, and if that is not possible then turn down the threads. Some gun designs like Ruger Mk series and 1911 can get away with pin/weld end cap though.

Does anyone that bought theirs have buyers remorse? I haven't really ever bought a plinking gun before, I can't tell if its just going to sit in my closet or if its worth the trouble of trying to find it.

No regrets...at some stage I'll SBR my A5 and put a can on it.

Yes, I would look at mine in the safe and ask myself why I even wasted my time/money on one. It’s heavy, clunky, the stock is too short when fully extended that it feels like it’s made for an 8 year old child, hated the annoying sound of the faux can every time it came in contact with another object like a pillow etc. My GSG 16-22 is a much better choice and have kept that one. The HK is now long gone, sold brand new/unfired and with several extra mags...no regrets getting rid of it.

So you never even shot the gun but sold it because it's a piece of crap. Got it!

I don’t believe I ever stated it was a piece of crap but in comparison to my GSG’s...it just fell short of ideal for me. I can store an extra mag in the stock on the GSG (a plus in the middle of the nyte...for me), the GSG comes with rails around the handguard HK doesn’t. At full extension, the GSG still feels comfortable and with a good cheek weld...grab an HK and try the same...you’ll quickly dislike it. GSG mags are more easily available. The GSG is a little lighter with more even balance, the HK is front heavy (not to mention noisy if you bump the faux can into anything) and requires more effort to bring up to view. They are both .22 lr and not precision rifles so I didn’t have to shoot it to realize which two was the better of both to me. You may like yours and that is great, I regret buying mine and sold, with the money I purchased a CZ 457 and never looked back at HK again.
