Best I've ever seen or used was an HK300..............I truly regret trading mine for a BAR in .338..............even had the HK rings!
Thing was easy takedown/cleanup, extremely accurate and totally reliable. Nicely figured walnut stock....in classic European design. Medford rifling. What really pulled my cork was finding an identical setup at a gunshow offered for in excess of 2200 just a month past. -
Since I was a kid I had a old Remington bolt action 22 mag, if I remember right I bought it off someone for about $20. It was such a good shooter, all I ever used on it was the irons. Fast forward 30 years and she is relegated to the back of the safe, my father in law was having varmint problems on his property. Asked if I had a 22 rifle he could have, didn’t want to give him any of my 22lr so I gave him the 22 mag and the three or four boxes of ammo I had for it. Really miss that gun, in hind sight wish I would have gave him one of the 22lr’s.
Just recently got back in the 22 mag game with a Ruger Precision I bought from a great Calgunner. It is a fantastic, put a inexpensive 3x12 Athlon on it and it shoots great groups at 100, I’m really enjoying it. But I will say 22 mag has proven to be the hardest ammo for me to find, so I’m being careful with how much I shoot.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

I picked up a Marlin 783 and S&W 651 a couple years ago, love em both.
The Kel-Tec PMR30 is a hoot, would like to pair it with a CMR30 some day.sigpicOriginally posted by dunndealStop digging.iTraderOriginally posted by BrassCaseI only buy fireworks from Three Finger Willie over at One Eyed Jack's Fireworks.

I've had a bunch, H&R (shot amazing groups), the H&K300 which had that nice bolt that weighed more than my car but shot well, the Ruger Precision in 22 mag, the Savage 9x and the A22 Semi-Auto. Then there was the SW model 48 revolver, besides the extraction problems that eventually got fixed by SW it was a blast, literally. A 22mag out of the model 48 is truly an experience you won't forget.
Of all of them, the Savage A22 Semi has been the best one I've had. Firing from a delayed locked bolt with a target barrel and the Boyd stock it has been flawless. It feeds on anything and shoots equal to the Ruger Precision any day any time. The stock is heads and tails above the HK300 which besides having some really nice wood is flawed with a euro-style hunter stock that makes a cheek weld nearly impossible.
One thing the HK300 has was that fantastic claw type QD scope mount. It was a 100% return to zero and needed just a lever to work. The QD mounts of today look like hobby file and hammer time in comparison unless you spend some huge sum. The machining of the entire action, bolt and mount are of the highest quality. The polygon rifling helped with the velocity, I always got within a hair of most published velocities. Would I buy another? Nope. Using a heavy weight bolt to tame the 22mag isn't the best way to go in my opinion. The 22 mag (and 17) cry out for a delayed lock bolt type. That and for the price you can afford 2 of something else even at the high end.
The Savage A series is made well too, it doesn't have that home made look like the H&R did, the fit and finish is really good and above all else, it shoots. I haven't been able to find any ammo that doesn't shoot well in it and that means equal to or better than all the others. Fiocchi, CCI, Hornady you name it from 30 grainers to the heavy 50s.
For slow target or patience when ridding the varmits and rodents? The Ruger Precision. For anything else included the above, the Savage. Unlike the HK and the others there are some really nice stocks available for not a lot of money.Let Go of the Status Quo!
Don't worry, it will never pass...How in the hell did that pass?
Think past your gun, it's the last resort, the first is your brain.

CZ 512. I have the carbine and love it for being simple, handy, reliable, and accurate.sigpicComment

I had a Marlin 882 that was fun. I passed it along to my grandsons. I have a Win 9422M that shoots better than the Marlin even did. I also have had a few Ruger Single-Sixes that keep migrating to my kids.Comment

As a kid I had a Ruger Single-Six with interchangeable cylinder, an excellent ground squirrel buster.
Sixty years later I acquired a Smith & Wesson Model 48 with 6 inch barrel and am really happy with it.Freedom is the dream you dream while putting thought in chains.
