Yeah, I'd go for the longer birdshead, I don't really plan to use a pistol like this for barkeep distances. I'd rather have something with a tad more sight radius while staying pocketable. But, without having handled one, I think the 3.5" barrel posted above is a decent option to the Ruger Bearcat.

$199.00 at Bud's Guns. A hair lower than a $219.00 Ruger Wrangler. If you have an exemption, or a parent or offspring in free American who can gift you one, go for it. For all of their faults, Heritage guns work and are pretty accurate (in my experience anyway). The safety is goofy, the metal is cheap (the Ruger Wrangler is aluminum, so it's not some heirloom piece either), and for a rimfire cowboy gun, why spend more than $199.00 (if I had to have one, I'd spend $130.00 on the Rough Rider, but that's cause I think cowboy guns are ridiculous).
I got a Rough Rider a few years ago for $124.00, just so I could shoot a bunch of .22 shorts I got for free. Still got the gun, no idea what I'll do with it cause I have zero use for cowboy guns, but I don't have a bunch of money tied up in it, so it's not a big deal.Comment

The problem with the Ruger Bearcat is if you have hands any larger than those of an extremely petite woman it's a $500.00 waste of money.Yeah, I'd go for the longer birdshead, I don't really plan to use a pistol like this for barkeep distances. Bah - my hands are probably larger than yours and I can hold and fire them just fine.
I hadn't seen the wrangler, its like the bearcat used to be but just cheaper and available in ugly coatings, I'm confused lol.If it was a snake, it would have bit me.

$126 with poly grip here
$136 Pearl
Other configurations here. https://www.centerfireguns.com/catal...ance&q=barkeep
Who knows if these prices hold up when they get stock though.
And interesting that they list a 2" and a 3"
Maybe Heritage is going to do a 3" which would be roster exempt.
Looks like they come with their own poker stick for empties too
