    Old ammo

These came with my Grandfathers Winchester Model 62A. Think they are afe to use? Check out those price tags. That is what we should be paying for .22

For sure... some surplus ammo is way older than that stuff.

      no clue-

bring tools in case they get stuck

      if the brass is clean
if the bullets are not too fuzzy-
      shoot away
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
      (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Yes I think the boxes are completely safe to use.

The ammo however is not visible so it’s hard to give a good opinion.

If it looks clean it is probably safe.
You don’t want a whole bunch of crud on the bullet itself.
A little bit of oxidation on the brass is not a deal breaker.

My guess is they'll all work just fine but just in case do be mentally and physically prepared for the unlikely but possible dud round, or a squib/ lower than normal power (so that the projectile doesn't leave the barrel) round, or a hangfire / delayed round.

          Safety first of course.

That ammo is not too old. Not too long ago I shot some .22lr my FIL gave me that he purchased at Gemco. The price tag showed he purchased it for 49 cents a box. It shot fine.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

I love those old boxes and price tags

I have no shortage of more recent manufacture so I'm keeping the older stuff for smiles..

                inflation in the 70s & 80s LoL

I started out with nothing - and I still have most of it

I love the old CB caps.
(Short cartridge.) I haven't seen these for 20 years.

Just my opinion, yes, they should be safe to shoot. Watch out for squib loads and/or hang fires.

                    Best regards,

Thanks 870. If I find bulk at Bass Pro I'm saving all of it.

No only safe to shoot in my rolling block 22s. I'll pay you twice what the boxes are marked.

Those old boxes are probably worth more than the ammo these days
