    Your favorite glass

I've been shooting squirrels and rabbits on my property at 50+ yards with my 10/22 (BX trigger and some volquartsen parts) and a $30 3x9 Tasco Walmart scope with great success. I use the 710 FPS CCI quiet ammo and have the rifle zeroed for it. It's very accurate.

However I just got a Henry H003T and plan to use it to replace my 10/22 for varmint control since I can pump the rifle instead racking the action. I want to get a scope for it so I can use to make accurate shots out at 50 yards but also hopefully get a faster sight picture close range for varmints within 10 yards. I'd probably zero it with shorts instead now.

Any suggestions? I like vortex products.

I know absolutely nothing about scopes for lever actions but I have a couple of scopes from Cabelas that I believe are made by Vortex. You might look into their rimfire scopes and their caliber-specific rimfire scopes.

IMHO for whacking varmints with a rimfire rifle all that's necessary is a) a scope that won't fall apart, b) enough magnification to see the little devils at up to 100 yards, c) reasonable clarity. I'm not worried about low light performance and I'm not interested in trying to shoot squirrels at 800 yards like a fellow I used to know.

For fast action from 10 to 50 yards, get a red dot. I'd recommend a Sig Romeo 5 for $120 or a Holosun HS507C V2 for about $300. If you want something US made, consider the Trijicon SRO or the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro.

If you want to stay budget, consider a Bushnell TRS-25 for about $60 on sale.

I put a Leupold 2x7 33mm rimfire scope on my wife's AR-22. She hits stuff now.

Mine got the 3x9 33mm 12 oz Freedom scope with the front parallax turret. Sharp at any distance. The Henry Golden Boy got the 2x7 rimfire scope.

Get something cheap. 50-100 yards on a 22 you don't need a $1,000 scope. I'd get 2-4 power and a big field of view 44mm would gather a lot of light and be useful for evening shoots.

BTW my "favorite glass" is filled with whiskey

                  I agree.

However those little Simmons 22 mags are really decent for the price, been around for years and optics are very near as good as scopes costing 100s more.
I put one on my Marlin .22 about 30 years ago because was in my price point but never felt the need to replace because it was a good scope , but my CZ 17HMR I went with Leupold vx2 2x7(older and more money to burn).

                      Bushnell
                      SWFA
                      Mueller

all make good usable rimfire scopes. You can get the actual rimfire or regular centerfire scopes to use on your 22. Personally I like SWFA and Leupolds best because they are great and dont cost a lot (in scope world) and are very reliable. Keep zoom, adjustable objective, and weight in mind when looking.

Why not use another $30 Wally World scope. Dupe what you already have on your new rifle. "Great success" combo already, so...

I use identical Bushnell 4x12 scopes on my Savage 22lr and CZ 17hmr for g-squirrels and whichever rifle I grab the scope controls and reticles are the same. I like that.

Someone already mentioned the Leupold 2-7 rimfire scope. That would be a great choice.

I would throw a Skinner sight or Tech-Sight/Lyman/Williams type aperture sight in the mix.

Have used the plain Mossberg factory aperture on Dad's old Mossberg 142 since I was a kid; now 57 and wear bifocals. It is a tack driver to 50 yards easy. Same with 10/22 in "Appleseed" setup. It's also nice for short yardage acquisition.
