    GSG magazines

@slamfire1 - the GSG mags work as well as the metal mags I purchased with my Marvel unit 1.

      Aren't they the same gun?

My dad lives in Az and bought a .22 suppressor for his 10/22. He wanted a pistol to go with it. Ended up buying a GSG/ ATI brand new for $219.

The GSG works great, is pretty accurate and is a blast to shoot with the suppressor. He hasn't had any issues with it at all. It was so much fun, its on my list as well.

I have a Kimber conversion kit and that works pretty well too.

I have a GSG-1911 and these are my observations:

          1. It does a pretty fair job of imitating the feel of a 1911, which is why I got it, cheap warmup with .22 before I start shooting my "real" 1911s in .45.

          2. It is slightly light compared to a full size 1911.

          3. The sights suck. They give you three different height front sight to do adjustment. I could not get the gun to match the POA/POI as my real 1911's. I put an adjustable rear sight on the gun. I made all of the necessary fitting to the sight, not the slide. The gun is made of Zamak metal and it's not up to files and such.

          4. The thumb safety was really sloppy. Changed it.

          5. There were reports that the guide rod had failures. I got a guide rod and new recoil spring from CW Accessories. I can't say the guide rod did anything but the change of the recoil spring made the gun shoot bulk ammo a lot more reliably than when it was stock. The stock gun wants hot ammo with the stock recoil spring.

This is a cheap entry into a .22 that emulates the feel of a 1911. I found the Browning to be to small and expensive, but it is better quality. As others have pointed out, if you want a high quality 1911 in .22, put a conversion on a real 1911. Get a Rock Island and put a Marvel Upper on it. If you can live with something that might not hold up well, is ok but not great for accuracy and is cheap, this is that gun.

If you don't need a 1911 look and feel, there are better guns, especially in free states.

The GSG and Sig are the same exact handgun. GsG makes the Sigs for Sig.

            They are great trainers.

Another option would be a slide conversion. I have a Tactical Solutions one that I still have not used. Ended up getting my GSG at the same time as the conversion. My conversion only has 1 mag, and i have not been able to find additional mags for it.

That said, i really enjoy my GSG 1911-22. Just remove the overspray from the rails and clean it well. Run high velocity ammo as required and it should run good for you

No, the GSG is made by GSG. The Browning is made by Browning and is smaller than a 1911.

You are probably thinking of Sig and GSG. GSG makes the Sig 1911-22 for Sig on the same assembly line as the GSG.

Concentrate on clearing jams and FTFs if training to use a 1911.

My GSG shots great for the first 350 or so rounds. But needs a good cleaning and lube just like the real 1911s.
