    NAA timing/ Turner's update

An update to my post here

I posted a while back about an issue I was having with the NAA 22 I purchased from Turner's being out of time. Today I took it back to them and immediately understood why Turner's has the reputation they do.

Here's some of the highlights of my conversation with their manager:

-Since it has been more than 30 days it wasn't their problem (keep in mind that it was in repair for an entire month, and that I've had it less than 2 weeks)
-It's not a big issue, just shoot it and see if it works (I'd rather not shoot a gun that's out of time)
-It's not their problem, if the manufacturer sold it to them it must be a safe gun (even though it is noticeably out of time)
-And my favorite one: It's only a $300 gun, so what do I expect? I got what I paid for (I have guns more and less expensive than this one, cost is no excuse for a defective product)

Granted their responses are typical gun shop sales counter ninja crap, and they are double stupid for taking it in as a repair, why in the world are you bugging the retailer?? Call NAA and arrange to have them fix it. They made it, they are still in business, and they will take care of it.

That's my next step. The holiday season has been busy for me and I figured since they were close I'd have them send it back.

Frankly, I wouldn’t trust Turners with sending anything of mine back to anybody. NAA are good people, and they will do everything within their power to make it right. Good luck.

I did send NAA an email a while back and haven't heard back yet. I will try to give them a call sometime this week.

Why would you expect anything else from Turners? My first an only experience with them was doing a PPT because the seller insisted to conduct it there. I learned quickly how bad they were because we walked in an hour and 10 minutes before closing and there was nobody else in the store and the manager said we would have to come back another time because they do not do PPTs during the last hour they are open. Besides, they did not have enough people working.

I mentioned that it was an hour and 10 minutes before closing and I counted 5 people working and according to the name tags, one was a manager, one was an assistant manager, and three were associates. They were all talking to each other and not a single customer was in the store except for us, so there should not be a problem. I then asked for the number for the corporate headquarters. I had driven 500 miles for this because the seller would not ship.

She said she would do the PPT even though she did not have to.

It still took her an hour to do the paperwork and during that time only two other people came in and made purchases (non-firearms so no paperwork). I had even made it her worthwhile because they happened to have a 10/22 take down in stock and I had not been able to find any near where I lived so I bought that also. She still acted put out.

A Turner's has since opened up where i live and I still will not shop there. Sportsman Warehouse opened a store here a few years before and they will meet or beat their pricing and their CS is so much better.

Send it back to NAA and they will take care of it and stay away from Turners. Buy your guns from a LGS that knows guns even if it costs a little more.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

Turners is the slowest place around, but it's really a new low in customer service. Fortunately I've never had to deal with their service before, and I hope never to have to again if I can avoid it. It's easy to see their only priority is to get as many guns out the door and they stop caring once the money changes hands. I didn't expect a whole lot from them, and all they had to do was drop the defective gun in a box and ship it back to the manufacturer but they wouldn't take responsibility for something that they sold so it's the customer's problem to get the issue fixed. This is the worst experience I've ever had in gun ownership.

I suspect there are some issues with a store taking possession of a firearm, even to do a mfr. return.

You're better working with NAA directly, and it simplifies the chain of custody - you send to NAA, they return to you, no "middleman". I believe NAA is a smaller shop, and I suspect any firearm related manufacturer is pretty slammed right now, so it may take a bit to make contact? From my emails with them, I'd say with 100% confidence that they will take care of the timing issues.

                    I see an interesting trend.

I’ve never seen a positive post about Turners...yet people still shop there, experience poor customer service, and then complain about it on CG. After all the threads I’ve read, I can promise you all that I will NEVER purchase a firearm from Turners (and probably nothing else either because I avoid the place).

Shop local. Support the small business. Their personal reputation is on the line so they are more motivated to take care of their customers. Good customer service is worth paying a few bucks more for a firearm.

Unfortunately a lot of big companies are pushing local stores out of business and the people aren't left with a lot of choices. It's hard to compete with a bigger company because they can afford low margins and price out the smaller competition. The only reason I've ever bought from Turner's is that they're either the only ones that have the gun locally or their prices are substantially below anyone else. It'd be great to have more choices, but the CA market is hardly the best for this kind of thing.

Quick upadate: I was able to call NAA after lunch and spoke with their service rep. They took down my info and said they will email me a form tomorrow and then look to ship it back for warranty.
