    Squirrel Hunting, anywhere in CA?

Is there anywhere in CA that is happening for squirrel hunting? I would even be into paying to go onto private property to dispatch a few... I helped out a cattle farmer a few weeks ago on his property, now I'm hooked... Thanks.

Mods I am going to post this in rimfire/centerfire... Please delete is it is an issue. Thanks.

In most of SoCal you guys need to use non-lead bullets... right? Do they have non-lead .22lr bullets availabe? Not sure what's up with that.

Winchester thus far is the only one with a non lead .22 LR. And of course you can't find it anywhere. What makes is worse is that if you shoot tree squirrels or rabbits, you don't need to use it. The condor is the reason they give for banning lead ammo within the condor zone, outside of said zone lead is legit.

Gay and frustrating at the same time.

So what do you need to legally take a squirrel on public land? I've dispatched a few on private ranches before but never on public land.

hunting licence is req. regardless of land ownership and you need to make sure your not in a game refuge or anywhere else firearms and shooting are prohibited

And if you are in a "condor zone" you can't use lead ammo....

This is what we're dealing with here.... If you are in the area between the 5 and 99 you are good to go with lead ammo....

That PDF specifically says "centerfire." The same rules apply to rimfire? It wouldn't make sense if it didn't, not that it makes much sense anyway.

Get this this is where it gets ultra lame. If you are shooting tree squirrel or rabbit lead is ok. Ground squirrel, you have to use lead free...

What if it's a tree squirrel on the ground? Or a ground Squirrel in a tree?

Always wanted to do that Cedarville Squirrel Roundup in March. Supposed to be a zillion ground squirrels.... Supposed to be a blast while helping out the farmers!
5 hrs north of Sacramento though. Here's an account of this year's fun:
