I agree with your suggestions except, I disagree with your suggestion to lightly lube the cylinders' chambers. Brass cases are intended to go into steel chambers without lube. I don't know of a firearm manufacturer that recommends lube in a chamber.

Yes, that is probably the best advice. When I use my bore snake at home I dip it in Hoppes #9 and drag it through. I don't use any oil come to think of it (except I lightly oil anything on a steel firearm but I can see where the chambers on a revolver should be dry).

I have not had problems with Winchester ammo in my Wrangler. I do clean them occasionally with Hoppes No. 9 and a .22 brush that I only use for cylinders. If you use these brushes in the barrel they shrink and do not provide good scrubbing power. It is not as much of a problem with 22lr but 22WMR with the inside seated bullets it is much more of a problem.

22lr chambers can get very dirty. In my High Standard I start to get misfires because the rounds do not fully seat in the chamber and the firing pin does not have enough resistance when it hits the rim.

I figured out why. Winchester ammo tends to run on the “fat” side.

That blows. Win rimfire is typically the worst crapola and you can't even use it in the old standard for burning crapola ammo... the revolver. I have not tried the M22 yet but I do have some.

otherwise, how is your wrangler doing? i have a ruger single six, bearcat, wrangler, and a heritage roughrider. if i were starting anew, had to choose just one and done, it would be the wrangler, though i wish that ruger had offered it in 8 rounds.

I have some as well but I keep that for my 10/22 build. It really loves it.

My Wrangler has worked very well, except that the loading gate was very hard to open. I had to open it up and file a little on the spring that pushes against the loading gate to make it less hard to open. I recontoured it a little. I don't know if they are all like this or only mine had that problem, but compared to my single six it was very hard. It is now much better and I have yaken out several times with my nephews to teach them how to shoot.

which Winchester ammo exactly was it? I have about 10k rounds of Win M22, I guess I need to see how they fit in some revolvers. They run great out of semi autos.

When I was in ammo buying mode for years, I'd pick up a few WIN boxes here and there and avoid Wildcat and a few others I knew I hated... traded off 555, and 333 when I could but still have some. So I probably have all the variations in small lots I wanted to test out, but never did. The plan was to use it in a SP-101 if nothing else. I guess that is still the plan, but not concerned with testing it in autoloaders anymore... have plenty of Mini-Mags, etc...

On the other hand and very sparing lube of the cases themselves is quite common on 22LR SA's

All Winchester ammo is crapola across the board. Centerfire, Rimfire and Shotgun. Tell me I am wrong, LOL But I am not.

I have a Wrangler. Have never even fired it once in the 6 months I have had it Maybe in the Spring time I will. I did notice the gate was hard to open. But I figure that will loosen up over time if I ever start using it.

A micrometer (or dial/digital caliper) will tell the story. Compare it to ammo that fits, and there you have it.

Had that problem with my single six. Sent gun to ruger and they installed a new cylinder.
They paid 2 day air both ways. Took less than a week.

I've found that bulk Winchester 333 won't extract from any semi-auto pistol I have. The brass is too fat and gets stuck in the chamber. Often I have to use a brass rod to knock the empty shell out of the chamber.

I have some Winchester 333 I will have to see if my semi-autos will digest them I usually shoot CCI Mini Mags.
