Just avoid the Thunderbolts. They are dirty and inconsistent. Even with the "New" Thunderbolts.

As others have said, mine has run with pretty much any 22LR I've used once broken in (haven't tried subsonic loads but assume those may not work very well, obviously).

One thing I have seen is every once in a while it needs a more thorough than normal cleaning.

Stay away from Remington Golden Bullets, they’re junk.

The only time I’ve ever had an issue was when using a Pro-Mag aftermarket magazine. Would get FTF; stick to Browning Mags, and use whatever ammo you have.

Had my Buckmark for 5+ years and 1,000s of rounds. I had some FTEs my first 100 rounds or so, but now that it's broken in, it fires anything.

Great little handgun.

First post... Just placed an order for a Browning .22LR Buck Mark Plus UDX with the Walnut handle.

Read thru numerous posts here (not all?) and have seen the comment "eats anything" at least a couple of times.

My question is, for those owning and shooting Buck Marks, what is your experience in ammo? Are there any specific brands/type that works better or more importantly don't work with the Buck Mark? Is it finicky with ammo? OR will it truly "eat anything"???

One of the big reasons for adding a .22LR is that it's "cheaper" and one can have lots of fun on the range without breaking the bank. But if I buy a couple of bricks of .22LR ammo that the gun spits out, well, that's a waste.

Mine had issues with Remington golden bullets, but after a take down and thorough cleaning, it ran fine. Just keep it clean and see what it likes. There is nothing else on the market that is any better than the Buckmark. Especially in CA. The Ruger Mark iv is a lot easier to take apart, but off roster.

If you have inconsistent extraction of the shells. I can recommend the Tandemkross eagle’s talon extractor. It’s only $10 and easy to install. I am pleased with mine.

My Stainless UDX w/ Burris FF3 shoots fine with the 17 different cheap 22lr ammo that I have in bulk.

Shooting indoor from sand bags 5 shot groups at 25ft. All ammo functioned fine but had feeding problems after about 500rds when the chamber got dirty. Running a bore snake and cleaning the residue solved the problem.

I test my handguns by resting my hands on the bag instead of the barrel and found that the Buckmark is the lightest of all my 22 target style pistols and has very noticeably the most muzzle flip and makes it the hardest to shoot for me. It takes more concentration to keep the muzzle flip consistent. It is still fun and a challenge and the most affordable on roster accurate pistol. It is cheaper but just as accurate as my S&W 617 6" (also on roster). My S&W 41s are easier to shoot, more accurate, CA legal but way more expensive.

My tightest groups were with Aguila Std Velocity.

The next tightest groups which are very respectable were CCI AR Tactical, CCI MiniMag RN, CCI Std Velocity, Federal Auto Match, Federal Field & Range 36gr, Federal Target 40gr, Federal Black Pack 36gr, Remington Golden Bullet.

The next group had CCI Blazer, CCI MiniMag HP which I considered the minimum level of acceptable accuracy.

The groups opened up with Federal Champion, Remington Thunderbolt, Winchester Wildcat

And really opened up with Federal Red 36gr, Winchester M22, Winchester USA

Please take these results with a grain of salt as I am just a hobbyist plinker. If I got bad groupings, I would keep shooting to see if it is my fault. I judge the results by my best three or more groups for the ammo because I know I am a big variable.

CCI mini mags work best. If you want, break it in with that.

After, I used Federal bulk. Works fine for me. Just gets dirty as hell.

I'd echo that.

My slabside from 20'ish years ago was a bit finicky at first. 2-300 rounds later with a mix of ammo and I just feed it the Federal bulk ammo 95% of the time.

For the most part, if your 22 won't properly digest CCI minimag, it's not the ammo's fault.

Accuracy is phenomenal for what it is. With open sights it will give my 41 a run for it's money.

Just picked up the exact same Buck Mark a few weeks ago, was actually picking up a 9mm out of jail and asked if they had any Buck Marks, they happened to have the UDX with Walnut so I put it on layaway until my 30 days was up on the 9 to actually start the DROS. Can't wait to go shoot it, I have plenty of CCI for it ;-).
