    GSG-5 Vs. Sig 522

Has this been covered? I am looking to get a fun .22lr. So for now my choices are the GSG-5 or the 522.. Is there any others?? CA legal of course. Are there more add-ons for one or the other? reliability issues?? I know the 522 is not out yet but people always get info before the rest of us..

    Thanks

    Aaron

Kinda hard to compare something that's not out right? Wait for all the .22lr rifles to come out and watch for reviews.

Bunch of manufacturers coming out with some nice looking rimfire rifles like colt, s&w, and sig plus many more.

the s&w mp15-22 looks pretty darn nice tho it hasnt come out yet so i cant speak to how it performs against the gsg which is the one i have. i love it, its a great little plinker and thers lots of stuff you can get to make it unique and your own if youre into that stuff... which most guys are haha

i personally dont like the way the sig looks so i wouldnt buy it. it may sound kinda stupid but having not shot it or heard about the performance thats all i have to go on

I have a gsg5 and I think it's a great little plinker. the s&w looks pretty neat and I will probably pick that one up over the sig 552

                    Sighting systems

                    Same here ... waiting for them to come out. (Colt/Umarex M4, Sig 522, and S&W M&P 15-22)

That said, my favorite is looking like the S&W. Roughly the same MSRP as the Sig, but it comes with a rear iron sight while the Sig 522, I believe, only comes with a red-dot. Since I plan to get magnified optics anyway, the red-dot is sort of pointless for me ... I'd rather have the back-up iron sights. So I'm not sure what your aims are, but that may be something to consider.

The only site I've found with much info. on the S&W is the following:

The latest addition to the M&P15 family of AR-15 rifles is the M&P15-22.S&W have designed what they call “the ultimate .22LR platform”.From the press release:“In designing the new M&P15-22, our engineers pulled out all of the stops to develop the ultimate .22LR platform,” said Tom Kelly, Vice President of Marketing for Smith & Wesson.

It doesn't say, but I can almost guarantee they'll have 10-round mags available for California. They know California law, and they don't want to avoid business in the nation's most populous state.

i'm just wondering... where do you guys find the info for the new .22lr rifles?

Cause I am looking to purchase another, since my 10/22 I am hooked on shooting..

EDIT: forgot to add that referrals to gun shops would be great, near the tri-point of the LA/OC/SB county lines as that is where i am located.

I'm not familiar with that area; I live in West L.A. As far as websites...

                            Colt/Umarex:

                            Sig 522:

The S&W is the hardest one to find info. on, in my opinion. Just do a Google search and dig. This one has some basic information:

The latest addition to the M&P15 family of AR-15 rifles is the M&P15-22.S&W have designed what they call “the ultimate .22LR platform”.From the press release:“In designing the new M&P15-22, our engineers pulled out all of the stops to develop the ultimate .22LR platform,” said Tom Kelly, Vice President of Marketing for Smith & Wesson.

So lets say that both the GSG-5 and the Sig 522LR are available and similarly priced, which one should I get? Which would you get?
