    GSG red dot/reflex

Hey guys, I'm going to be picking up a GSG5 very soon, and I would like to add some type of red-dot optic.

I have owned EOTechs, Aimpoints, and other higher-end optics, but unless I can find a cheap used 511, or something like that, I don't want to spend that much for a fun rimfire weapon.

I'm willing to spend about $150-200 MAX, and would like something a step above the junk like barska, etc, although a high-quality replica might be a possibility.

    Does anyone have a recommendation?

    I appreciate any input.

Tasco came out with another propoint that looks tacticoolish that is right in your price range. I was just about to order one myself for my GSG.

I use a Sightmark on mine and it works great! I'm guessing that it may be a little too "junky" for you, but the thing is crystal clear and has four reticles to choose from.

        I would look at:
        1. Millett red dots. Not too tacticool, but very inexpensive. Millett stuff is generally quite good and they stand behind their warranty. Steve Millett is a good guy and is active over on the Hide. Bushnell bought them out recently though, so

        2. Tasco Pro-Points as suggested above. Tasco is pretty hit or miss, but these look cool and its not like they'll be subjected to much recoil.

        3. The Vortex Strikefires look pretty cool and come with a 2x magnifier for $150. These are very tacticool and Vortex seems to have a pretty good name amongst the ChiCom optics. Scott at Liberty Optics, who is active here on CG, likes the Vortex company alot. Scott is a good guy and if you have ever read his Shot Show reviews or scope reviews, you'll know that he really knows what he is talking about and doesn't hesitate to tell it like it is. I trust him to be honest and knowledgeable when he says he likes something or doesn't.

        Hope that helps.
        -Pete

I am looking for the same type of setup. Has anyone used the Mueller Quick Shot? They are around $95.

                Hey thanks much guys.

Just glanced over the thread and need to research all the optics that were mentioned.

dj, that Sightmark looks nice on there--I was also considering a c-more, and your dot looks kind of like one of those.

There's a thread on the T1 look-alikes in the Optics forum. Bushnell and Konus both offer one, and the one sold buy Primary Arms has been getting good reviews over at arfcom.

They're running around $90. I'm in the process of reviewing the Sig version, which is more expensive, but you pay 50% extra for the Sig logo on the side.

Does anyone happen to have a pic of a Strikefire on a GSG-5, I curious as to what it looks like?

Seems like a fun scope w/ the red/green and doubler--and fun is the primary objective here.

I have heard mainly good reviews about the Vortex, but some have complained about the dot being too dim--anyone have input in this.

Thanks again guys, I've been looking at all the optics posted for a couple of hours.

EDIT: Never mind the pics, unless you really want to share, I found some in the GSG5 gallery.
