    17 HMR

I'm looking to purchase a .17 HMR rifle and know little about them. Any suggestions? Price range is about 500.00 and I live in Sacto.

    Thanks

              I have a Marlin 917V and a Rem 597, both good guns.

Just purchased the blued version of that myself. Seems like a nice rifle so far.

                  I have a Ruger 77/17 which I bought from a Calgunner. I like it a lot.

Ive called around and checked my local gun stores and no one has any .17hmr guns. Where can i find one and what is the average price for one. I just want a cheap gun that i can have fun with. My ar is too expensive to shoot and i hear that the 22lr conversion needs good .22lr ammo in order to work.

I wouldn't say a .17 HMR is cheap. The gun itself can be cheap ($200-300). However, right now ammo is hovering around ~$10-13/50 rounds.

If you just want a cheap fun gun, find a Marlin model 60 .22 and go to town. That should set you back less than $150.

I've owned a Savage 93R17 FV in the past and I loved it. Great rifle, great trigger, and you can't beat the price. Currently, I've got a CZ 453 Varmint. I shot my friend's 453 and fell in love with the set trigger.

Just curious, what is the "single set trigger" on the 453? Is that the only difference from the 452?

                              CZ for the bolt.

10/22 for the auto. Very modular and can be constantly changed.
