Yeah, I think I have five mags.. CDNN had them for $20 or so which was the best deal I could find when I got my 922CA. The GSG 922CA is a really fun gun. Much more fun and reliable than my P22 and the 922 has a GREAT trigger. 922 mags are better than the P22's too. If you aren't getting a Buckmark, the GSG is a nice option. Another one for similar money (I think) is a AA Glock conversion if you already have the Glock. I have the 17-22 gen3 kit. I hear the CZ conversions are nice too. Must be the way they sell out all the time.

I second the AA conversation. Great set up for a glock.

OP here, ended up with a Sig 1911-22 (GSG).

Shoots fine (when it's not dirty). Accurate enough, had to file off that pointy grip safety though.

Both the smaller and full sized GSG 1911's are on sale at Turner's. I found mine cycles better with less lube, a thin coat of Sip 2000 EWL prevents any gumming up of the rails.

I’ve got a GSG and it’s pretty good, especially for the money. An 85% version of a 1911 just doesn’t cut it,Browning or any other brand. The kits above are well noted, only thing about 5he kits is having a pile of loose parts lying around. Being old and dinosaurish,I like my older Colt SM Ace from 1978, it’s the exact feel of my Colt 1911 pistols.

Recent GSG 1911-22 owner here, thought I'd chime in.

I've only ever shot CCI Mini-Mag through mine - goes bang just fine and has never failed to cycle the slide. I do get the occasional misfeed though. Like maybe 1 or 2 every 250 rds or so.

I've got two mags for mine. Turner's had them for $30 a pop, but I think I'll try to get two more cheaper than that.

I'll check that ammo out, thanks!

Yeah that point on the thumb safety diggs in to my thumb a bit. I'll see if I can get a non-ambi one thats rounded off. I try not to do irreversible mods to my guns (or guitars) if I can help it.

Awesome Colt! I'd love to get my hands on one of those someday. Is it as good as I'd like to think it is?

GSG mags are available from the Gun Mag Warehouse for like 15 or 16 bucks each.

                      $5 shipping isn't bad per pair (2=$5 4=$10)

From an accuracy perspective, probably not. These pistols were meant to train GIs for use with the full size 45 ACP. The floating chamber does amplify 22 recoil about 4x but does not duplicate 45 kick but does make it a little more realistic. Accuracy is nowhere on par with a good 22 target gun but Colt never claimed it to be,either. They are good for2- 3” groups @25 yds. Certainly good enough for plinking and hitting steel hanging targets. It’s nice having a companion,COMPLETE,pistol alongside your 45 and much cheaper to shoot, plus they look cool as well.
