For deal buy the upper by it self, sometimes you can get crazy deals, if you want to go crazy, you can push $2k for one, ask me how I know

I bought a spikes complete ar 22lr years ago then got a tac solutions black cloud 22lr upper to go along. Spent some coin but both work great. The black cloud has a 24 power bushnell tac elite and have shot it out to 200 yards, You can actually see the round before it hits target because it is going so slow by then

If anybody sees a good deal on a decent upper, please post away. Hoping the PSA goes on sale for under $300

PSA seems to put these 22 cal uppers out every three or four months. So it is best to click on the product and sign up for notification for when it is in. Additionally, my experience is if you are looking regularly, you will see it a couple of days before they notify you.

Sales are often for the cheaper bolt model so be sure what you are looking for to begin with.

While you are waiting patiently, now is the time to decide on which mag and adapter system you wish to go with. Personally, I chose S&W M&P 15-22 mags and a Bonnie Packer Redi-Mag adapter, which I am happy with.

            Good luck OP!

I took my dedicated AR-22 rifle to the range today. It has an Anderson lower, PSA upper, Bonnie Packer Redi-Mag adapter and S&W M&P 15-22 magazines.
Today I added 409 down range rounds to a previous 817 with no problems using Blazer, CCI mini mags and Federal target grade ammo.

Here is an example of results at 25 yards using a forward sling and elbows on a shooting table (note: shooting deficiencies, if any, are mine and not the rifle):

              image.jpg

So I am happy with this choice of set up.

A funny side story...I almost did not go to the range today because it was cloudy, could not decide if it wanted to rain and was windy. But I went anyway because I had another new rifle that I had purchased which I wanted to sight in. After working with the other rifle, I then decided to shoot my dedicated AR-22.

I am a grown Californian who has never shot a standard capacity magazine before in my life. But today that changed when I took a recently purchased 25 round S&W M&P 15-22 "freedom" magazine, inserted it in the mag well and low and behold the clouds parted and the sun came out and stayed out! LOL

I did learn a very important lesson...using a standard 25 round S&W M&P 15-22 magazine with a McFadden Machine Lightnin' Grip Loader allows for 2.5 times more shooting fun with a lot less time spent doing loading drudge work!

Get a 10/22 with a Bull Barrel. Way more accurate and more useful.

                  I put a dedicated 22lr upper on a polymer 80% lower.
It is REALLY fun to shoot and really accurate too.
The target is the first 200 rounds. Off hand, 15 yards, breaking in the barrel, not sighted in yet.

I'm putting a $42 CMMG head on one of my .22LR conversion bolts and adding a $139 CMMG barrel to an unused upper. It's cheaper than a complete upper and bolt.

EDIT: I bought the CMMG made barrel from RTB for $109. It's $20 less than the CMMG branded version. They sell both and bolts too for less $ than the others.

My daughter just got re-informed she had her AR lower since before 2013, and she has a birthday coming up.

                          1) What are the requirements for rimfire 22lr to be legal?
                          I can't find a rimfire flowchart.
Is it still "all-features" as long as it is not center-fire?

                          2) Does one need to dedicated-block the receiver extension (buffer-tube) with a dedicated rimfire upper attached?

                          3) What about bolt hold open options?
Do they all do BHO in the AR platform with 22lr and mags?

I just picked up a PSA 16" upper on the daily deal and a Sig Romeo 5. Looking forward to shooting it when it comes in.

Wouldn't have done this without some freedom mags........
