    Walther vs. Buckmark

I'm going to g.et a new range toy. I have narrowed my choices to the Buckmark Camper and the Walther P22. I'm looking for comments pro and con.

      +1 Buck Mark

P22 is often hit or miss, the browning is a sure thing..

The Walther is unreliable, the Buckmark works with any ammo. The Walther has only mediocre accuracy, the Buckmark is far more accurate. The Walther has very sparse aftermarket support, the Buckmark has more aftermarket stuff.

But this is Calguns, so did you already buy the Walther?

See if the new Taurus 22 will be available and worth it.

Go with the Buck Mark. Its a quality piece at a reasonable price. Accurate with plenty of aftermarket parts should you want to tinker and do some upgrades.

I had the Camper and now the slab sided Standard URX.

Buckmark by a landslide. I have a P22. Even if it is reliable, the P22 is not a great gun... In before someone says get a P22 and read the P22 bible to fix it.

                    no contest. I have both.

I spent a lot of time modifying the P22 (p22 bible etc) and only just got it running acceptably. Just sent 3+ boxes of mixed velocity Aguila threw it without a miss-feed. Those ~200 rounds went down range at 7 yards, but I can't say I really enjoyed the experience. Felt like going to the vet for shots. I keep it around because I'm not sure it's worth selling, and it fits the kids hands (but I'd rather her start on the 10/22 or 457). Can't stand the P22 trigger.

The Browning Buckmark, on the other hand? Absolutely a blast to shoot at 10-15 yards, with f/o or lately RDS. I'd get a Ruger IV as well, if we weren't in CA. But being here, I'll probably wind up with another buckmark pretty soon.

The CZ / Kadet is another option, I'll typically take out the CZ and the Browning, and forget the Walther in the bag.

some compact CZ's, and perhaps, one day, a two wheeled cz..

                      Buckmark!
I also have a Ruger Mark III and find the Buckmark is tremendously more fun because I don't spend any time clearing malfunctions. Buckmark is the most shooting enjoyment you can have for your dollar.

My P22CA has never worked right. It so far HATES all the different types of ammo I've fed it. Shouldn't need it's own "Bible" as found on the Walther forums to work. It should - you know - just work.

An entire forum dedicated to fixing P22 issues should be a sign. I'd sell mine if there was a market for them, but their reputation has wrecked them.

For those that'll jump in and say it's the ammo not the gun, why can't the gun eat all ammo? Really? Is this Walther's first rodeo?
