Yes, but that bullet button is good for nothing. If you put a centerfield upper on, you've created an AW.

Just get a regular mag release for $8 and keep your .22 upper on it, and it can stay that way.

You can remove the standard front pivot pin and replace it with a fixed pivot pin like the old civilian colt's with the large, two piece, pins and red loctite the threads if it make you feel better.

POF-Revolt used such a front pivot pin.

(Note the discussion about the lower not violating AW law but asking do you really want to trust LEO, or I would add DA, interpretations):

Another way to handle this or show intent might be to use a Boonie Packer Better-Mag adapter that when/while installed causes the lower to not accept center fire ammo or uppers. This choice handles law issues, parts removal, intent, etc IMHO.

OK, now I have a headache from having my Tom Terrific Thinking Cap on too tight....where did I put my CA 2A aspirin?????

Problem with this is if you think LEO are going to swap around your uppers and lowers to violate AW laws they could just as easily remove any magazine adapters, swap your muzzle devices around, remove your magazine limiters, etc. you are screwed if corruption runs deep enough.

Not going to argue with your premise OP. However, I do wish to get out of the bunker on occasion, so I'm going with a reasonable intent methodology plus a few photos:

            - non centerfire upper, which if dedicated can't take a 5.56 BCG
            - choice of no buffer spring, plugged buffer, buffer spring alone or buffer spring with plug depending on what works
            - magwell adapter (Note: in my opinion I do not see how this is different than a fixed mag AR set up, which isn't that hard to switch out. Furthermore, nothing is really permenent whether mags, or magwells or fixed stocks or whatever.)
            - knowledge that AW laws do not currently include rimfire and action that I am not going to do anything with my dedicated rig that appears to be straddling or crossing any lines.

If paranoia is such that someone is so concerned "the man" is out to get you then probably the above is not a good defense short of turning in your firearms and using the buy-back money to purchase an assault slingshot.

So I guess my bigger concern with previous comments is that we all think this through and not do stupid stuff that is questionable. Personally, I would not want to see someone with a CMMG conversion whip that puppy out at the range, slap an AR BCG into place and continue pouring lead down range. Or similarly take off their dedicated upper, replace it with an AR upper and send lead down range without any thought to whether or not any evil features might be present and therefore problematic.

You don't need a bullet button my friend. You're good to go with a dedicated 22 upper and a multi lower receiver. Rimfires are exempt from laws governing centerfire rifles. You can have all the "evil" (normal) features you want on a rimfire rifle...Regular mag release, adjustable stock, forward and rear pistol grip, flashhider, etc. You still can't use 10+ round mags and your barrel still needs to be 16"+, but that's obvious. Dedicated AR22 uppers are great too because you can fit a 16" barrel into a 14.5" profile.

I was at the range not too long ago when I was shooting my dedicated AR22 with evil features when I overheard an older fellow tell an employee that my rifle was illegal. The employee proceeded to tell the man that my rifle was completely legal because it was rimfire. The older fellow was in awe and said "That's a beautiful rifle." Feelsgoodman. AR22s are the way to go nowadays for me. It's super cheap to shoot and having a regular pistol grip and removable magazines just makes shooting so much more enjoyable.
