100 yards, for me at a middle age of 61. My bench rest results are far better than my off hand.

    Hi Guys,

Picked up my Marlin 795 today and shot 200 rounds through it. It's very good no issues at all using Walmart cheapo Federal ammo. Stock sights are OK for plinking, but at 50Ft, farthest i can put my target in my indoor range i have difficulty aiming for the bulls eye (around size of a quarter) on shoot n c 6" target pasted on to a bigger target. Indoor range was little dark so that may be one of the reason aswell.

BTW, my eye sight is good no problems.

My question is how far do you guys shoot comfortably using iron sights? Just want to figure out if i need a scope to shoot farther than 50ft.

    Thanks

Tech-sight is over priced. But it is the only game in the town.

The plastics stock is cheap. I plan to add some count weight and pading

However, shot it first and shot it often.

No plans to attend appleseed. I need it just for plinking, as ammo is cheap.

Can I chop down the plastic stock? I would like a shorter LOP. Or what are my options are far as replacement stocks go? I like the Boyd's TactiCool stock but its not available for the Marlin 795.

Got my 795. It is not as nice as a 10/22.
The original sight is crappy(ruger original open sight is more usable ). It is a must-have to change sight ,either optics or iron sight. I had an tech-sight.

Going to shot it in weekend

They are BB gun sights, not the most accurate.

There are other sights as well, just have to hunt around for them.

Williams fire sights, You can make a hooded sight from the stainless model's front sight, etc etc.

I'd go with tech sights, because they are really good for the money you are spending. Good trainers for AR/Garand sights.

I put a Bushnell Rimfire scope on mine, and it's BORING now. Doesn't really test me I need to push it at 100-200 yards now!
