Tech Sights are made by them. I don't know that I would call them cheap but AFAIK that is the cheapest you are going to find them for.

He has a scope, which could also affect accuracy,but even when I shot it with the stock sights, it felt more accurate. I am going to the range tomorrow and if I can find weaver scope rings today, then I will shoot both the 15/22 and the colt with a scope on it to see how the accuracy is with the scope.

I shot my brothers marlin and it had better accuracy than both my colt and his 15-22. The main difference imo and the reason you pay more for the 15-22 is the looks and probably the Name of the brand.I love shooting my colt, but when i feel like target shooting and hitting what im aiming at from a distance, i would want the 795.

Does your brother's marlin have tech sights or scope? or just stock sights on it?

What's the difference between S&W M&P 15-22 and Marlin 795? I know 15-22 is a AR-15 style rifle and 795 is just a vanilla rifle. I mean accuracy, range etc.

Is it worth spending $500 more for M&P 15-22?

The 795 is very accurate and reliable right out of the box.
Range would be determined more from the caliber then the rifle when it comes to 22lr but the marlins 18 inch barrel over the SW's 16 should theoretically give the 795 more range and fps.

Get the 795 and save up for a real .223 AR

I just bought one today at big five, cant wait to take it out and have some fun. I have a couple of other .22's and I love them.

I don't have one of these any more but a few years ago I had one and loved it. I think I had run a few thousand rounds through it before I let it go but again grate little gun.

I think you can tap them with a brass punch to adjust them.

Quick question, i just noticed that the rear sight on my new Marlin 795 is not aligned with the dove tail rail, used for mounting scope front sight looks like it is aligned but not the rear sight. Is it normal?

Does Brass cleaning rods helps reduce the risk of chamber or barrel damage? whats the logic behind it?

Its like scrubbing mold off of a rock. Scrub it off, it grows back. Well, same concept. Shoot a gun, carbon builds, use that to scrub it off, nice in clean. shoot again, and it comes back. (but you have to break down your gun). Brass cleaning rods or not, as long as it fits (brass rods smaller than .22 barrel) it won't hurt. Just remember, as long as you clean scrub the barrel bullet path "STRAIGHT" and NOT back (INward, INward, INward is the key) brass or not, it won't hurt a thing. Plus add cleaner. And I forgot, you need these...

I shoot at a paper target at 50 yards with stock sights, and at the metal targets at 200 and 300 yards.

Im rank amateur. I can hit in the black on a paper target at 50 yards(sitting, no support, and no spotting scope, which I need) I can hit within a foot or two of metal target first shot at 200 yards, and probably a yard or two first shot at 300 if I can spot it.

The red dot on my 10/22 makes things faster/easier.

I like the marlin sights. I hate 10/22 sights.

Just fwiw. I think its important to hit with either red dot or irons if necessary, but honestly I'm just terrible with those on the ruger.

The red dot is a complete game changer. Stuff I couldn't hit with irons at 100 yards now I can nail.

Actually I'm pretty good hitting metal targets at 100 yards with the marlin irons.

Its a cheapy but easy for me to shoot, a great value so long as it doesn't break
