Overall, I like it more than the stock sight as it is a little slimmer and allows for windage adjustment via a smaller dovetail piece instead of the main dovetail. For $10 great upgrade!

Now there's a Man who builds on the value equation of the Marlin 795! This rifle is a step away from being a Hall of Famer.

Git my new sight in from Numrich and my ammo from PSA; pics to come. Very easy to install; the screw in the front dovetail is only there for pressure once the sight is in the dovetail. Overall, I like it more than the stock sight as it is a little slimmer and allows for windage adjustment via a smaller dovetail piece instead of the main dovetail. For $10 great upgrade!

Yeah, I generally just use the 795 magazines so I have an even 10 rounds instead of 7. Makes it easier to shoot 5-shot groups
Pretty fancy H/C mag though! Didn't know such a beast existed!

Didn't know that's what the difference was. My XT-22 apparently came with a pre-88 magazine because it will not fit into the 795 since it doesn't have that cutout.

Really? That's odd that the XT-22 comes with magazines without the cut out.

Back in the day Marlin made a little known edition of the 70 (earlier model of the 795) called the HC (High Capacity) it came with 7 and 15 round "banana clip" and there was a 25 round "banana clip" available.



From what I have gathered when Bill Ruger started rocking the boat, they saw the bans on the horizon they out of fear modified the magazine and the mag well to make these 70HC magazines not compatible with future rifles.

The magazines are backwards compatible btw, so if you have a 70 you can use 795 magazines in it. Just not the other way around. (unless you file down the nub in the magazine well).

Or in this case your 795 magazine will work in your XT-22 just not the other way around.

There are 7 round magazines out there that do have the cutout in them, just as there are 10 round ones without the cutout

The POST88 Part means that it has the cut in the side of the magazine that corresponding to the nub that sticks out in the magazine well. These features where added to make older highcap magazines not compatible with newer rifles.

I have ordered many magazines from CDNN, they are good to go, quick, accurate, well packed orders each time.

Not a 100% sure but I think that mag loader is designed to hook around a button on the side of the mag to lower the follower on like Ruger MK / 22/45's. Marlin mags dont have that button so it wont work on them

I see what you mean. Now that you said that and I look at the pic it makes sense. I couldn't tell how it worked just looking at the pic.

What about those mags? Are those the correct mags for the 795?

No experience with that, just saw it and thought I'd mention it. For $2, somebody should get it and write up a review.

Finally got to shoot my 795 today for the first time...all I got to say is that this is the best $159 Iv spent in a long time,

The Value side of the equation definitely tilts in favor of the 795 owner v. the competition.

But the main thing is you enjoyed your new Rifle.

Fine shooting on the small dots top and bottom!

The mags are a bit of a pain to load but they do seem to get easier the more you use them, I love my AK maglula. And have been thinking of getting a pistol one and a baby one. But that is a lot of money that could be spent on ammo...

Finally got to shoot my 795 today for the first time...all I got to say is that this is the best $159 Iv spent in a long time, minus the $39 BSA sweet scope, UTG bipod and scope mount, so well worth every single penny. Only down fall were my finger loading the small bullets, got me thinking twice about the baby uplula I should of got.

Anyways heres a pic of me sighting at 25 and 50 yard, put about less than 200rd in about 2 hours. I was kinda straped on time.

Now we have to find out how well-made they are, and whether they feed correctly.
