I am interested in knowing how many of you have been involved in competitive smallbore shooting. Not everyone may know what I am asking, so I am referring to shooting in prone or 3P matches with a .22 LR target rifle, such as an Anschutz or a Winchester 52. I am not referring to shooting modified 10-22s.
I got my start shooting .22s when I young, but when I entered high school I joined a shooting league, and I began learning and practicing on Wednesday nights, at an indoor 50 foot range, then I transitioned into competing.
I thought I was a good shot because I could consistently hit objects we would shoot at when my friends and I went plinking with our .22s. In smallbore shooting, I practiced the fundamentals of how to shoot accurately, and experimented on how each fundamental affected the impact of the bullet.
This has turned into a lifetime hobby. I have not been in a competition since 2003. I stopped competing to spend time with my daughter, and now she is in high school and she is very independent, and I am going to take up my hobby again.
