    Federal Automatch...???

Was shooting this stuff out of my Marlin 60. After 150 rounds without a problem, I opened a new box and it became a jam-o-matic. It seems that the rounds were underpowered and failed to fully cycle the action. Threw some ****ty Thunderbolts in it and it was fine.

Anyone else seen drastic differences between lots of Automatch?

usually very good ammo. Stored improperly or old would be my guess.

I have over 12k rounds of it in the cabinet. It's pretty much my go to all around plinking .22 round. Cycles in every rimfire I have other then my Walther P-22. But I blame the gun for that one. The P-22 is known for being really picky.

Federal Automatch doesn't work in either of my Marlin 60s. I have the best luck with Remington Golden Bullets.

Never seen that problem on Automatch, but once in a while I saw the same under-power problem with Federal American Eagle, the red box, which I paid less than 5 cent/rd. Is that weird ? but it happened.
I did further investigate by buy the same brand Fed AE ammo at LGS couple bridges ~=10 cents/rd I did not see the problem. I guess that happen when the vendor try to get rid of old ammo or manufacture try to get rid of ammo that fail the final quality assurance (QA) so they sell it with lower price, and that just a wild guess.

Never had a problem with the automatch 333 packs. Found it so good that i used it to shoot steel challenges for a few years. Golden Bullets on the other hand give me FTFs/ FTEs all day long

All purchased in the last four years and stored indoors in my closet. Of four or five boxes this was the first ive had problems with.

I have about 2K more that I hope isn't bad.

Automatch doesn't cycle in my Marlin 60. I use CCI minimags - they are 99% reliable for me. Remington Golden are about 60-70% reliable. Nothing else works in mine.

NEVER use Thunderbolts. I had one case fail in my GLOCK 19 AA kit - I had to replace the barrel. Had another case fail in my S&W 617 - took three hours to clean up the mess inside, but it did make a pretty fireball. I immediately tossed the box and never looked back.

I've had two of the 325 round boxes on my shelf for over a year. Jams every other round in my 10/22, both boxes. I never stray to far from mini mags and Remington gold but I think these were on sale.

                        Automatch

i agree is my go to cheap 22 for automatics. Works fine in bolt actions but so does any 22. Even works pretty good in pistols, but after 200 rounds of anything they need cleaning. Bought 4k of CCI minimags but have not used yet since 12k of automatch works well .

It's "OK." VERY far from "match" ammo in both reliability & accuracy. I've found Golden Bullets to be more accurate... when they go bang.

I have MANY boxes of the Federal Autocrap. Bought it all before I realized that the newer version is underpowered, and now junk. It won't cycle any of my semi autos reliably, so I will no longer buy it (fine for revolvers, though). Now, I look for good deals on Remmy Golden Boolitz or CCI Blazers, as they work dependably in everything I own. I may wait for the next 22lr ammo shortage, and sell it all at an inflated price. We'll see.
