    Ruger .22lr standard

https://imgur.com/AbBf5Q7What would be a good price range for a .22lr Ruger standard semiautomatic made in 1955? it's in pretty good condition. No rust, original box, and paperwork. thanks

It's the standard. Before they started calling it the Ruger mark 1 semiautomatic pistol made in made in 1955.

Common fellas he's talking about what we all know as a .22 lr pistol that Ruger has been making since 1949.

They still make them with a MSRP of $449 in several configurations.

What would help is to know the age of the pistol he has found. Pre roll mark safety warning would be great as these look the nicest and are built to last .

Price range might be between $250-$400 but that would vary with barrel length .

Pictures or a partial serial number would help.

The Mark 1 and the standard are two different pistols. Standard has fixed sights while the MK 1 will have adjustable sights.

I saw the img url in your original post. Just a vintage Standard Model without the safety roll mark.

Ruger has made a lot of these so I don't see that a used old model should command a premium although there are a few exceptions.

The area on the gun that may be an issue is on the back of the grip where the lever for take down is located. Prying the lever up may have left marks.

Parts are easy to get and are simple to replace. I would not want to pay more than $300 if it is in good overall condition. Better at $225-$250.

My first pistol was the Standard for $54 about 1973 without the safety warning.

It's a good basic .22 but my MK1 is better and I shoot it a lot while the Standard model sits in the safe.

If you want to plink and the price is good go for the Standard. If you want to Target shoot get a MK 1,2 or 3 for the adjustable sights and a nice bull barrel.

I have two of them. I wouldn't pay more than $350, and for that much it better be cherry.

Great guns though. Way more reliable than most other .22 autos.

I got almost the same thing, but it is later model, MK II. It has aftermarket sights and I still couldn't sell it for $350.

Pre 1972 or 73(can't remember which) are valued higher in a couple of the values books I've seen, IDK why, but think it's because it was around the time Ruger made some changes to them. It's also when they switched the side the button is on the magazine.

Ruger Mark target pistols with long and bull barrel has more value than short and small barrel pistol.
If you selling it, since it is a none-Roster model then sell is as high as you can $450 or more (there is a sucker born every minute).
If you buying it, just to brag that I had a Ruger a Non-Roster pistol then pay $200 for it.
If you buy it to shoot then buy a bull barrel, target model with adjustable rear sight, or buy a Mark-4. Heck, if buy to shoot then buy a Buckmark.

I paid $400 bro deal for this excellent condition 22/45 Mark II last month. PTP from a buddy.

Mark II is the one to get. No magazine disconnect safety and loaded chamber indicator! Later models have more options and ability to swap out grips though.

I got a longer (5.5" I believe) tapered Ruger Standard Pistol, made in 1967, in very good conditioni about three months ago for $360.00, with one magazine, no box or papers.

I know there will be eighteen people telling you to "spend no more than $200.00 on one" or "I got one for $100.00", but good luck finding one for those prices.

How bad do you want it? I didn't buy it to collect, so as long as it was in good shape (and it was other than in serious need of a deep cleaning) and shoots well, that's all I cared about. And if I could fine another in that price range locally, I'd buy it.

I also got a High Standard HD-Military with a 4.5" barrel, in excellent condition for $400.00. No box, no papers, two magazines that work perfectly. Super accurate.

Yes, I'm sure most of you wouldn't spend more than $150.00 for that, but good luck finding one in that condition for less than I spent.
