Any of the mid priced fixed 4x should work well. The Cabelas Rimfire in a variable has worked well for me as well.

I have the Weaver 2-7x28 rimfire scope on one of my 10/22s and it would be a perfect complement to a lever gun. Nice and lightweight, small profile. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/14...-reticle-matte

Red dot like some in this thread have recommended would be an interesting choice, too.

I disagree with the people saying to just use iron sights. It's 2018; you are allowed to purchase and use optics.

Weaver Classic 1-3x only weighs 8oz. Peep sight weighs about the same as one round of 22LR.

Kids do not like shooting heavy rifles, ask me how I know...

I put a nice new Weaver 2X7-32 on my 10/22 years ago and besides outstanding clarity, it is rugged and good looking and fits my gun like it was made for it..

Leupold 2-7 rimfire is beyond perfection.

i love the Nikon Scopes. Excellent glass for the money. I believe they still have a lifetime warranty also. Their reticle are nice as they come with different options. I made the mistake of thinking a high dollar scope and name gets you better glass, in alot cases it is simply not true. lower cost does not mean you get junk. Yes there is some JUNK at places like walmart for 39.00. But spend around 150.00 to 200.00 and you will get a scope that will satisfy the needs of 95% of the crowd.

You just cannot go wrong with nikons in the 150.00 range. Second would be the Redfeild Revolution line, leopold owns them now.

                                I just bought a Bushnell AR22 scope -- 2-7x32

Not mounted yet, but seems to be a good scope. With the current Bushnell rebate, should cost about $70

However, the eyebox is a bit large.
