An M&P 15-22 with a Geissle trigger is big fun!

so much custom stuff for the 10/22, so if you are into that you should consider it. My go-to is lever action in .22. Too much fun!

Voted for MP 15-22 but you might consider the Sig 522 and a CMMG AR-22.

If your going "tactical" the HK MP5-A5 is a hell of a gun.
Its made by Walther, me and a fellow Calgunner put one through it's paces one day and had no problems.
Ive owned an ISSC before and it requires constant cleaning and oiling, more so than your standard firearm.
Picky with ammo, "iron" sights needed loctite and the flash hider was a pain to clean. When it was clean, had the right ammo, used loctite this rifle was sweet! Mag dumps were fun, had pretty good accuracy as I hit a gong at 75 yds consistently. I used a Magpul Angled Foregrip as ive never like my hand on quad rails.
I want to clarify this was my personal experience. YMMV

I'd look into the Sig 522. I've shot all the other .22's that you listed to me, the Sig 522 was a lot of fun to shoot and easy to maintain/clean.

Or have the rules on 22 uppers changed?

^this. I've lost count on how many thousands of rounds I've shot but it is rock solid reliable. Not picky with ammo, easy to clean, and doing the HK slap never gets old.

                              I have both a M&P 15-22 and a 10/22.

If you're running an AR platform, the 15-22 is a light weight, cheaper and non-restricted way to practice handling a AR. Also any AR trigger/group will drop in.

However, if you are running a SCAR, the other two might be viable options.

One of the nice things about a 15-22, mags are plentiful and cheap.

The 10/22 is like a 1911 and AR, everybody makes parts for it and you can buld an entire rifle without a single rugger part.
