    Mystery HV Ammo

Well here's the mystery ammo arrived. It's definitely not Mini-Mags or Blazers. My best guess is AR Tactical, which means the quoted specs (velocity and energy) wouldn't match. Here's the pic, from left to right: 40 gr Mini-Mag > Mystery Ammo > 40 gr AR Tactical:

The SV ammo definitely looks like 40 gr CCI SV. No dings, dents, or bent bullets, so I expect it to shoot well. I'm going to the range tomorrow to break-in my new GM barrel, so I'll be using the bulk SV to do that (the 10 shot > clean > 10 more shot routine, up to 100 rounds), and then do some accuracy comparison testing between bulk and regular SV with the rest. Not sure if the new barrel will like CCI SV, but at least it will be an even comparison switching between the two.

Here's the break-in target for my new 22" GM fluted sporter barrel. Shot 20 rounds off target, cleaning every 10 rounds, up to 100. I shot two additional groups of 5 rounds with the fouled barrel. All shot with the bulk CCI SV. The barrel seems to be getting better and better so I'm pretty happy.

Here's a side by side of the bulk CCI SV and boxed stuff. Top two are bulk, bottom two are boxed:

These were shot with the barrel fully floated. I started messing with pressure pads after the break-in, and that's when the barrel really started producing some nice groups. I think without the 7-10mph wind, I could really get some consistency out of this setup.

        Here's my full range report:
Hello. I've spent a few years over on the 10/22 forum, but my 2nd 10/22 project looks like it fits into the SuperStock class. I've had a lot of fun with my other 10/22 going through a couple of bull barrels and two stocks over the years, and a heck of a lot of DIY mods and tinkering, but this...

HV is back in stock. Bought 20 bags. With $12.99 flat rate shipping, I paid $.058 per round. I know that I could get the CCI blazer new for the same cost, but a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. I like the 200 round count bags because it will limit my kids when I take them to the range. They would blow through a 325 round brick of auto match before the end of the day. Haha

My order of 4000 rounds HV came in today. Looks legit. Heck of a deal at .058 cents a round.

The CCI SV stuff I have is lead round nose, not copper washed, unless they have changed the recipe in the last two years. The mystery bullet looks like some federal copper wash I have. I've heard that CCI contracts to Federal for .22lr production. Could be maybe they mis stamped the cases with a C instead of an F die. Federal won't accept it, and CCI can't package it in CCI labeling, hence the bags 'o bullets. Just a guess.

Those look like the CCI AR tactical rounds.

Not a bad price at all.

Just got my order this AM. 4K rounds fits nicely. Dessicant packet slips between the stacks. Not sure I'd want a can any heavier.
