So I've seen a few different places that have .22 tactical ammo and I'm just curious as to what is or if there is any difference between tactical and standard .22 ammo. If anyone knows please fill me in.

.22 tactical ammo question

Before there was tactical .22 rimfire ammo, there was CCI Mini Mags. If I were to keep a .22 lr for defensive purposes that is what I would load it with.Comment

CCI AR Tactical .22lr was designed for Evil Black .22s like the M&P 15-22.
It has slightly less velocity than a mini-mag.Originally posted by Kestryll:

Hahaha ok thanks for that. I had a feeling that it was just a sale tactic more than anything.Comment

Tactical, cost more for tactical printing on the box. Buy a 22 mag and be done with it.If you find yourself in a fair fight, you're doing it all wrong.

Folks keep mixing up the CCI AR Tactical and Mini Mags.
Both are your best bets in a "AR style" semi.
However, the AR Tactical ammo groups better than the Mini-Mags.
The Mini-Mags have more flyers than the AR Tacticals
A number of side-by-side comparisons, prove this.
They are not the same product just relabeled.
If you are thinking an AR style .22, stock up on the CCI AR Tactical ... like NOW.

The CCI AR tactical also has a different nose profile compared to the minimags. They are shaped more like a traditional target style bullet, but copper washed. They are the only load that consistenty loads, ejects, and groups well in ALL of my .22lr rifles. Some rifles shoot other loads better, more dependbly, and more accuratley, but the AR "tacticals" are a load I can throw in any gun I own and be sure it wil go pop, and hit what I'm aiming at with no jams or misfires. That covers bolt actions, semi autos, and lever actions in detachable or tube magazines. the minimags velocity is advertised at 1240 fps on the box, and the AR tacticals have 1200 fps printed on the box.Folks keep mixing up the CCI AR Tactical and Mini Mags.
