What are the Guidelines to Building a Dedicated.22 Rifle?

Are they the Same as a Regular Center fire Build?

If not can you point me in the right Direction, Can't Seem to Find recent Info on the Subject.

Just need a 22LR specific barrel and BCG. The rest (handguard, upper) is the same as centerfire. You will not need a gas block/tube.

The lower is the exactly the same, but I recommend getting the Taccom pressure plug.

There are many threads about regulations regarding rimfire rifles vs RAWs.
Does the ST-22 have a 22LR chamber and 1/16 twist and a rimfire BCG (not a conversion kit)? If so then centerfire regulations don't apply. A lower is not a rifle. Rimfire rifle can have std mag release, pistol grip, collapsable stock, flash hider, allow friends and juveniles to shoot it. Ten round mag limit does apply. That's my understanding, as of today.

If you leave off or block the gas tube so it won't operate as a semi auto, you ban use a conversion bolt in a 5.56 barrel. Since it will only be a manually operated rifle until you put in the rimfire bolt it isn't a California "assault weapon". Or you could be like me and just use an upper that you screwed up the placement of the gas block. As long as it will not operate as a semi auto center fire it isn't an "assault weapon". This has the added benefit of not having the blowback from the gas tube come toward your face.

Jp upper can not physically put a 223 round in and if you use the ad catch .22 mag release you physically cannot install a .223 mag just buy a Nordic comp .22 upper

There are no laws/regulations for a .22LR. Anything like "use a dedicated .22 upper" or "remove the gase block/tube" are just peoples opinions to be extra safe.

If you have a .22 bolt installed and using .22 mags it is a rimfire rifle and not subject to AW laws, regulations, or restrictions.

Personally, I found a .22LR AR-15 (yes, I have built one with a dedicated .22LR upper) to be a huge waste of money. If you want a good shooting .22LR semi-auto buy a Ruger 10/22 or a Marlin 60 or 795, and with the difference buy 2000 rounds of ammo online.
The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.

Or a SIG 522. Since they use the same mags as a dedicated AR-22, you might end up with both. Personally I just want one or two of everything.

Under CA laws, the requirements are:

                  Minimum barrel length of 16".
                  Minimum overall length of 26".

Overall length measures with the firearm in the shortest possible firing configuration (stock folded/collapsed).

the dedicated Spikes ST-22 has a lower marked "22lr" and the uppers cannot be converted to centerfire.

there is NO gas tube, and the operating arm will NOT work in centerfire upper, the bolt has no gas key, it is strictly blow-back operated.

i have one i purchased new; it runs great. i don't think Spikes sells them any longer. but when purchased from them new, they came with a lifetime warranty.
