I've come to the conclusion that I can always replace the barrel or the stock at a later date, but I can start with their light weight 16.5" for about $389... That seems like a good entry point with no less and no more than I might need to start playing around with 22... and I could put the extra dollars toward a scope.

Thinking about putting my 3.5-18x swaro on it for now, and figuring out a mil/mil scope like the Nightforce SHV or similar... to play. Any thoughts please let me know what ya'll have for scope preference.

If you think I'm making a mistake with the synthetic let me know - thanks

      Whats your budget?

Have you looked into the Anschutz 64 MPR?

Although, gorgeous...and superior...I don't know that I'm ready to spend $1399 for an Anchutz 64 MPR when I can get the CZ 455 for $389.

What are the main reasons to go that direction? It's a lot of money not really having much experience with 22LR....

I thought the CZ was sufficient... for getting into the game.

I suppose without knowing what you mean by "precision" and without a budget, it is difficult to guide you in the right direction.

Its similar to the numerous "what scope you should get?" threads that come up from time to time.

Are you shooting off a rest, free hand, 25, 50, 100 yards, silhouette, hunting, etc. Without knowing the specifics, you will get a wide variety of suggestions.

You linked a 1500.00 Annie so I figured 1300 was in your budget.

I am not trying to steer you away from CZs or any other rifle for that matter, but when I see 22LR precision, I assume benchrest or general competition-style shooting.

It looks like you just want a quality rifle with good accuracy and the 455s fit the bill at a great price. If youre willing to tinker with pillars and bedding you may get extremely favorable results with the 455, closing the gap between the CZ and other more ecpensive rifles.

It comes down to what are you trying to achieve with your rifle?

I have no complaints with any of my CZs and quality ammo. You wont be disapointed depending on what your expectations are and your ability to tune your rig.

For my purposes, my CZs are fantastic. I use my CZs for hunting and minute of rabbit/squirrel is all I need. I am not trying to get 3 shots in the same hole at 50 yards.

In any case, keep an eye on the classifieds as they come up from time to time and you can get a bargain if youre patient.

For what its worth, I find the most value to performance in CZs and I am on a CZ budget. But I would love to have an annie even if I may not shoot to its capabilities

I have zero experience with the Anschulz.

I have the Ruger American Rifle and several CZs. Both companies make extremely accurate rifles. Very tiny groups when using a rest. Unless you really want or need uncanny precision (i.e. very very small groups) I don't think you can do much better and for the money the Ruger and the CZ both represent very good values.

Incidently, the Ruger American Rifle in .22 WMR is shockingly accurate ...
