Right now I'm thinking CZ with the BOYD's stock is just too good of a value...

        Love my CZ455 Precision Trainer.

I just ordered some Wolf Match ammunition per a members recommendation and will be taking it to shoot as soon as it arrives.

The stock is comfortable and very light weight, and the recoil is as soft as the click of a pen. Grouping surprised me considering I was just using cheap Remington Golden Bullet.

          $500 vs $800

Boyd's stock vs Manners; obviously the Manners is a Manners.

The tacticool is 16.25" barrel... is there any benefit to 20" or 24" for 22LR?

Again, I'm new to this, so I'm under the newbie impression that 22LR is optimal out of a 16" barrel and higher velocity isn't necessarily helpful. I'm sure this depends on what ammo you're shooting.

I'll be shooting CCI 40gr 1235 FPS and Aguila 40gr super extra HV because that's what I have. I'd like to burn through it before buying more ammo.

You won't know what ammunition your rifle likes until you shoot it. Firearms are picky and not all of them like the same ammunition, even between 2 identical firearms.

What you're paying for when it comes to higher priced ammunition is consistency between each round.

Plus .22lr is so cheap, there's no reason why you shouldn't buy a few bricks of 500 of different brands and test them all out once you get your new rifle.

I agree with the CZ 455, and I have one in 22LR and 17HMR.
If you are going to use the bolt for shooting off of a bench for more accurate target practice, ~50-100yds, I would save most of the HV ammo for your semi. Definitely use some of the HV you have in your bolt, but as you begin to want smaller groupings it should help to get some standard velocity ammo. Alot of people like CCI std Vel. and its more available at a better price now.

Rimfire ammo will reach its highest velocity with a ~16-18 inch barrel, but like you said, achieving the highest velocity isn't a major concern for rimfire accuracy.
The options you pictured look good, and it looks like you're off to a good start.

Thanks guys for the feedback. I'm really excited about getting into 22. Really appreciate the feedback.

As for the optic I hear SWFA offers parallax as close as 10 yards at higher powers. Looks like fun to shoot match sticks - haha.

....One more thing, if you get the CZ455 use it for awhile, and if you think you want a lighter trigger pull get the Yodave trigger kit. It takes about 15-40 minutes to install.

New to 22LR - Precision - a little help please

                    My suggestion...

Get the cz455 in the manners stock with the 20.5" varmint barrel....throw the timney trigger in it if you don't like the factory one...a 25moa DIP base with an Athlon Argos 6-24x50BTR scope and a glades armory bolt handle and your match ready.

I have the 455/manners with the 24" barrel and it is just stupid accurate but the barrel is to long for my liking so I just ordered the 20" and the 16" varmint barrels.

I ordered both because I've read in a bolt gun the 16" barrel may cause accuracy issues due to higher velocities and gas pressures.

My rifle will shoot 10 shot groups at 100yds you can cover with a nickel pretty consistently with eley edge.

I'm pretty much tempted to go with CZ because it seems to be the best value... from what I've read. Thanks!

                        Great looking rifle [emoji1303]!

Side note. Interesting article on Israel using .22 for LTL.
A eagle-eyed reader emailed us a photo taken in the West Bank shortly after a Palestinian, disguised as a member of the Press, attacked an Israeli soldier with a knife. Our reader spotted, in the background (cropped and enlarged), a young Israeli soldier carrying a Ruger SR-22.I am not often surprised, but this was the first time I had ever seen a soldier of any nation with an SR-22.The Ruger SR-22 is Ruger’s official tactical version of the Ruger 10/22 which was introduced in September 2009.

I was just reading in Rimfire Central that Ruger has discontinued the 77/22. And that's a bummer. I have a Clark Custom built on that iron.
