Be aware that another potential issue is a broken recoil spring guide rod. Mine broke and I quickly got a free replacement from ATI. However, for peace of mind, I replaced it with a stainless steel guide rod from CWAccessories. Good stuff.

Think it would handle 350-400 degrees? Pure Zinc melts at 787 degrees, not sure exactly where the gsg alloy would melt but guessing higher than pure...

I've been using an enamel that bakes on, works well at 350-400 degrees is why I'm asking... definitely call gsg before I do anything but wanted your opinions also.

Love my GSG 1911-22. I cleaned the rails right off the back and it ate up 100 rounds of CCI MiniMags no problem like expected. I ran another 100 rounds of winchester Super X with no problems and I was surprised it ran through 100+ rounds of Rem golden bullets without a single malfunction. My GSG absolutely hates Federal Automatch. About 3 malfunctions through every 10 rounds magazine. Helps me train on clearing malfunctions but now my Automatch is reserved for my daughters 10/22

Love my GSG. Great pistol. I do have one question as I have not been able to find replacement mags, where best to buy them?

I've put 5-600 rounds they mine so far, never cleaned anything. Just shot the rails with a lil oil and she runs. Wildcats, federal bulk, Cci, thunderbolts, aguila, pretty much anything over 1200fps runs almost flawlessly. Automatch is now starting to hiccup on the first round, won't cycle a new round into chamber after first shot. Probably getting dirty, might have to clean it in another few hundred rounds...

Personally, I wouldn't shoot any new or new-to-me firearm without first field stripping, inspecting, cleaning and lubing it. That said, I'm a 1911 guy and I really like the GSG 1911-22. I have, however, replaced the stock guide rod, recoil spring and spring retainer with stainless parts from CW Accessories LLC (http://www.cwaccessories.com/index.html).

CCI mini mags were the best ammo in my GSG 1911-22
                    Some other brands were iffy...

CW & Nic Taylor both offer some good parts. Plenty of that stuff is bull**** and won't do anything for function. The guiderod replacement is a good idea- not just for wear but the slide travel is actually 1/4 inch further back and makes for more reliable ejection and feeding.
