For the first 20 shots or less, it was not as accurate as it used to be.I've never shot out a barrel, I'm also not so lucky as to shoot so much ammo. I'm just curious towards the key holing, did the original factory barrel shoot just fine for the first twenty rounds? Is that how a barrel that is worn out normally performs - okay then quickly key holing as the barrel is fouled? I'd first guess the ammo as the culprit.
Then it started key-holing maybe one out of three,
if I kept shooting, it key-holed every shot.
Ammo was a mix of CCI Std. velocity, CCI Mini-mags & Rem Golden Bullets.
The CCI Std. was the worst performer probably due to the lower speed.
All this ammo shot fine out of my S&W 41.
I'm not sure if that's how a shot-out barrel performs.
I am new to shooting. So I ask the same question.
But replacing the barrel and using the same ammo,
(same brick, or bucket) it shoots well again.Comment
