Midway USA still lists it on their website http://www.midwayusa.com/22-long/br?cid=10016 It's out of stock right now but sign up & they'll email you when some comes it.
Also SGAmmo lists it on their site as well. http://www.sgammo.com/catalog/rimfir...n/22-long-ammo
Again, sign up and they will email you when some comes it.

I accidentally bought 1 box of cci (100 rounds) some time back. Don't remember where. I do have an ancient Winchester bolt action that will shoot it (along with LR, and shorts) but I keep it seperate from all my other .22 so I don't accidentally try to use it in another .22.
Where do you live? I might be persuaded to part with it.
Sorry, not sorry.

I saw some at one of my LGSs about a month ago. It's out there. When production of .22lr finally catches up with demand, manufacturers will start runs of .22 short and .22 long again. Just keep looking around.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I found a description of it online but am still unsure of why it exists and what its current application would be. Maybe older weaker revolvers?
I was only using LR as a kid in the 50s.Comment

The .22 Flobert spawned the .22 RimFire. Later When the .22 Long was introduced, the .22RF was called .22 Short.
The .22 Long Rifle was introduced in 1887 By Stevens. They combined the 40grn bullet of the .22 Extra Long (Introduced in 1880, obsolete in 1935), with the case of the .22 Long, and loaded with 6grns of BP. The .22 Long was loaded with 5grns, so .22 LR velocity was about on par with today's .22LR subsonic.
.22 Short and .22 Long used a 29grn bullet with a barrel twist of 1-20" to 1-24". When the .22 Long Rifle came to be a standard, the rifle twist was increased to 1-16" to better stabilize the longer 40grn bullet with the higher velocities.
You will see many pre-1906 rifles marked .22 Short, or .22 Long, or .22 Short & Long. These have the slower twist rates, important to know when restoring with a barrel liner.Comment
