A few 22mag JHP will slow'em down and eventually kill them, don't know if it would stop them in their tracks. 22 lr not so much, had patient shot in the chest by her distraught husband (attempted mercy killing) point blank with a 22lr, it took her 3 days to die.

        Heritage 6 shooter?

apologies for going off topic in reply but a heritage roughrider's 6-9 aimed 22wmr shots from cover are much better than strong words or a five iron at a 3am break-in, especially if you practice and consistently hit with it. i said static defense: retreat to your safe room, call 911 and engage any unfriendly who comes through the refuge door. there are no concussive shock waves or shrapnel wounds to stop a bad guy from a miss with a bigger round. maybe a heritage rr is all the new handgun a guy or gal can afford. or perhaps it is the only one available as a starter handgun for social or family reasons. a heritage rr is a fine entry into the world of responsible and lawful rkba. maybe later he or she can afford or desire something more potent but until then "beware of the guy with just one gun, he probably knows how to use it well."

The ejector rod assembly is made from Korean Schlitz cans or the lower priced equivalent. Fortunately Ruger parts fit right in. Double the value of your gun with four parts.
            It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.

              Which model? Single six?

As you can see I am not a fan of the stamped tin ejector rod housing. Come to think of it, I don't like the ejector rod either.

I had the Heritage 17. Ejector rod get jamming up. Had the Single Six parts from a six inch on my counter and swapped them out.

The 17 went away a few years back with all of the Ruger parts installed and I haven't heard any complaints since.

I have one, birds head grips and 3.5" bbl. 22LR/WMR combo. I had to beat the front sight to the right a bit IIRC for it to shoot straight. Good value for what they are, for sure.

Most models are zamak (cheap zinc alloy) frame but they do make some steel frame models too, usually north of $200 though. The safety is sort of cheesy, but the action seems nice and smooth.
