    Monthly ammo limits in 2017?

So I'm in my local Dick's Sporting Goods and notice they have quite a bit of 22lr. Ring for service and 10 minutes later a clerk shows up to help me. I ask what the prices are on their 22lr bricks (Remington 525 and Winchester 555). Still a bit overpriced IMO, so I tell him thanks and begin walking away.

He then says "better buy your bricks now as you won't be able to in 2017" Ummm, what? I heard about no more mail order to the house and some type of "check" before being able to buy ammo, but heard/read NOTHING about ammo limits.

Dick's clerk said there will be no more "bricks" over 500 rounds sold as there will be a monthly max limit of 500 rounds per person. I called BS right there. Maybe an internal store policy (imagine that), but not any law details I've heard to date. Total FUD or?

FUD, buuuuuuuuuuut.... who knows what the future holds. What seems a bit overpriced now may look like a bargain in the near future.

It's untrue, but I wouldn't be so close to dismiss the threat. Remember, there has already been a bill passed (but not signed) that limited ammo to 50 rounds per month. The main obstacle to enforcing it was the inability to track users' purchases. Guess what the State now has?

passing such laws only deprives this state of tax revenues.

I don't think dicks is to bad in price. I have always had good service. Like what the other person posted. In the next couple of months the prices at dicks will be cheap. Get it while you can. And then when our new governor wants to limit your monthly purchases and are stocked up.

Yup, 500 rounds, delivered monthly, via unicorn...

But really, jdben is on point here.

Wait, no more ammo that ships to my door anymore? As for the employee he's completely misinformed.

                          Senate Bill 1235 http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/fa...01520160SB1235
Placed restrictions on the purchase of ammunition and would require the attorney general to keep records of purchases. This legislation would further require any online ammunition sales to be conducted through a licensed vendor. Goes into effect Jan 1, 2018

Practical impact on you: It is unknown how many retailers will wish to deal with California because there are still some VERY limited exemptions. All online sales of ammo are done. All out of state purchases of ammo are done. No road trips for ammo that you plan on bringing back into CA. Does essentially the same thing as Gavins ballot proposition.

This is not correct. You can still purchase on-line, you just need the purchase to be sent to your local FFL and not your residence. You then go to the FFL and jump through the hoops to complete the transaction.
