Yes the cave man days, I would ride my bike to big-5 and buy 22lr when I was 14, For you real young guys, Nobody thought a thing of it either. The central valley CA used to be free when I was a Kid, Sadly my generation was the last to experience this feeling of freedom. And it was not that long ago, The 1990's. I would have rode to the hardware store but it was to far, And big-5 was a brand new store here. Beno's had just closed and it turned into a Orchard supply hardware, no ammo.

I was a teenager in the 70's, and the farmers in the area would give a kid like me a brick of .22 and pay a dime for every dead squirrel we brought out of their almond orchard. Some afternoons were pretty productive. Shoot one, three more run over to see what happened to him....

Farmers here still had a bounty on magpies when I was young I missed out on the squirrels.
