Unfired Ruger Mark II: shoot it or trade?

I picked up a Ruger Mark II NRA Commemorative.

I was looking for a .22 to transition my youngest son to pistol.

I'm not a collector, so this holds no extra value to me.

Should I go ahead and shoot it or trade for a shooter?

    Thanks

That is the perfect 22 to teach your son on and eventually give to him.

      MK II's are great shooters.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

My mark I I is one of my best shooters. You won't find a better 22.

This being California even a regular Mark II is collectable. I think your first order of business would be to see what the going rate if for a standard Mark II vs the NRA edition. One of the factors would be the $35 DROS for each, if you traded. It would also need to be a FTF deal because of the roster.

It looks like it came with special grips, if so, you might put on a set of regular grips and put those away for safe keeping should you decide to keep it.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

Not sure what the value is. But if you happen to have a chance to trade for a shooter and come up with some cash, that cash can help buy some ammo and pay for range fees and targets.

To keep it simple, however, you can just shoot it

It's a nice tool you have there and you should definitely keep it and shoot it. Just keep it in good shape and it will not lose much value.

Not particularly valuable as a collectible.

You have a really nice .22 that you should....

                    SHOOT!

But if you really want to trade it, I have a nice Ruger 22/45 that we can swap. 2 magazines, rail and a factory box! Let me know.

I like the white grip NRA mkII. I'm with the shoot it with your son then give it to him camp.
