    Have both.

The Mark 3 is more fun too shoot. Got it right before it dropped off the roster.

Yes you can buy the TD anytime.

Marlin 70pss (papoose) if you can find one. Definitely more accurate than a 10/22 and lighter as well.

Do you know if those will take Marlin 795 mags?

Yeah sure a 10/22 is easier to use, but it's much bulkier and heavier. That matters a lot when packing things on your back.

How about a nice 22/45? Stupid light.

              ^This.

A 3.25 pound takedown is much better than a 4.6 pound takedown for backpacking.

It's also all weather plastic and stainless, which is ideal for backcountry camping.

Evidently, Remlin started making them again. So availability should improve.

You could always add your own camo rattle can job. Or get it hydro dipped if you want Mossy Oak Infinity.

All great points. The fact that I already have a bunch of Marlin 795 mags, might just tip the scale that direction. I honestly didn't even know Marlin made a take down 22. I'm pretty early in the research process, and it's why I made this post. Calguns has yet to let me down in the info department.

I don't own the Marlin, but I like the idea. I have a MarkII and a 10/22 breakdown. If it is a survival situation I'd rather have the 10/22 BD (or the Marlin), but if it's just for plinking I'd go pistol.

If you want something with a little more punch look at a KelTec Sub2000. I just got one and they fold in half to 15" or something and shoot glock 9mm mags. They deploy in like 2 seconds and you can leave the mag in when folded (check your local laws).
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

The barrel and magazines fit in the stock. It's supposed to be waterproof.

                            You could consider a Buckmark.
                            ^^^^ I have a Buckmark that I mounted a compact reddot on.
Darn accurate and a lot more compact package than Ruger 10/22 TD
                            for backpacking.
