I'd personally get the Savage with the Accutrigger over the Marlin.

+10. I have 2, one in blue and one in stainless. These are awesome rifles for the price.

That Savage 93R17 BTVS (its stainless) is one of the best 17 deals going. I've been shooting one for almost a year and still can't get over what a sweet shooter it is.

I saw them a couple weeks back at Sportmans Warehouse in Rocklin (Sacramento area) for something like $339.

I don't think I've ever seen an inaccurate 17 HMR rifle. I use a CZ 452 Varmint model.

I mounted a Mueller APV scope on mine. Very clear glass for around $130.

I know this is a really old thread but had a quick question without wanting to make a new thread regarding the same info. Anybody found that the 93R17 BTSV the thumbhole stock version of the savage has a really short length of pull. I tried one out in .22lr yesterday and given I'm not a huge guy and it seemed really short, almost youth short even for me. Just curious on your guys opinion that own any version of the savage .17's

I have a 93R17 BTVS. I'm 6' 1" with the arms of an Orangutan. I haven't noticed that the LOP seems short. I find it quite comfortable. It's one of my favorite rifles.
