That's not very good for 15 yards.....it wouldn't be that good at 50 yards to be honest.

That's good a lot of firearms ship with packing oil/grease and the 795 is one of those. So if you don't clean it before you shoot it the thicker oil can cause issues. Two malfunctions are not a big deal in the grand sceme of things. But these rifles are very reliable. Neither of mine have ever had a malfunction. BTW IMO the best way to load the 795 is with the bolt locked back by the LSHO and using the LSHO release to drop the bolt. But yea you need to make sure the magazine is snapped into place first.

Gun and magazines are clean. I only have about 80 rounds through this rifle; perhaps it just needs to break in.

love mine. Tech sight s definitely a plus and much better than the standard sights. Mine are all the way to the left but with this setting the group at 50 yds is good.

if you want a bolt action, look up the Marlin XT-22. it also accepts Marlin 795 mags

My 795 hates Winchester SuperX as does my Marlin 60. Eats CCI without a problem.

795's are work horses, we shoot a steady diet of cheap, Remington and Federal though it, never malfunctions. Put a cheap 3x9 Simmons optic on it($40)and its lights out out to 100.

Judging by the size of those binder clips, I think the silhouette is smaller than it seems & thus your grouping is better than some people give you credit for. But regardless, you're just starting out & had fun, that's always a good thing.
