    First time shooting Marlin 795

Here are a few pics of my the target I was shooting at about 15 yrds with just a bit of wind (would come and go). Shot left and low a lot from what I can tell.

In all honesty I forgot to measure distance. Since I just started I think I just put myself at 15 yrds. It was windy that day.

If you shoot right handed then your shots will tend to go left.

Looks like after you and your gun warmed up you started grouping better.

I'd suggest you shoot from a rest to get more specific groupings. Or come to an Appleseed shoot!

I was looking at the calendar and just noticed one in April at Rainbow (I live in southeastern part of San Diego). As far as I can tell I can attend. Looking fiward to it.

Nice! I love my 795. It eats anything you put through it

Standing unsupported on a windy day the target isn't that bad. Like others said shooting from a supported position on a calmer day you can expect some really good groups from a 795. And taking an Appleseed class is always a great idea.

I have no preconceived notions that the rifle was at fault XD. I also had one FTE and FTF from Winchester HP. I can't wait to get Tech Sights.

What ammo do you run? I know for a fact mine hates Goldenbullets/Thunderbolts; I get at least 1 stovepipe every magazine (they are ****, so I guess that's understandable).

I run mini mags, golden bullets, aguila super extra all with no problem man. Maybe your magazine is dirty? It shouldn't be picky at all. My buddies 10/22 is really picky with ammo

I mostly used Winchester LHP. One mag was Mini Mag and that fed fine. Forgot to try out Fiocchi to see if my gun likes it. I already had someone recommend me not to use Thunderbolts. Gotta get my hand on Aguila to try it out.

Did you clean the rifle before you shot it?

Oh yeah I did clean it. I may have forgot to mention I'm a total newbie. This is like my first time actually shooting a rifle (tried out my friend's SKS and just shot 10 rnds.) I may have not loaded thame magazine right (took me some time to figure out how Maglula worked).
