my friend's 15/22 eats all sorts of crap ammo its amazing my old marlin 60 does the same . but,I cant say that for the new 795 or the 10/22

The bull barrel, if it was a match barrel, would also have a match chamber. Tighter tolerance, more accuracy, but finicky about ammo and no bueno when the chamber gets dirty.

My match bull barrel is the same way. It shoots like a dream but when it get cruddy, you can forget about trying to shoot anything until you clean it.

If you want a true garbage disposal that will eat ALL brands, types & rejects of .22 ammo including the Mexican made Aguila super Colibri and regular Colibri (low powered/no gunpowder) stuff,
I think a revolver is your best choice.

If you want something that's a little different than the normal but not too expensive and don't mind a little extra weight,
I think everyone should try and have at least one top break in their collection (if only for the Webbly-style coolness factor of it).

Harrington and Richards model 999 and I think Iver Johnson made a similar model of nine shot revolver.

If you're more practical, the thought of having ultra-uber-super light revolver in your stable, well that really works best in the .22 caliber.

+1 on the h&r 929 sidekick. About the cheapest revolver and all machined steel. Mine is from the 50s.

My 10/22 was very reliable until I installed a Butler Creek bull barrel. Yes super accurate and will hold dime sized groups at 50 yards and quarter sized groups at 100 yards with CCI ammo. But after about 200 rounds the chamber gets dirty and its a jam o matic

I ended up buying a new Ruger 10/22 M1 carbine for just casual plinking in the desert. I really like the classic M1 carbine stock and military style peep sights and front post

I found an H&R 999 Sportsman for $250. The ejector was worn down pretty badly which meant the timing is only so-so. Hammer/firing pin was in good shape. Barrel was pitted and down right bad. Rust spots on the bluing. Grips were crap. I could only talk the LGS down to $225. If they would let me have it for $200, I'd get it.

^ I think that's a bit overpriced for a .22 revolver that has timing issues.

If we lived in a free state you could probably get a mint example for that kind of money.

I've seen a video before of someone who was shooting a H&R revolver and the ratchets (the gear teeth that are on the back of the cylinder) that move/ rotate the cylinder with the upward action of the prawl (that you're activating by pulling the trigger)
were so worn down and the gun was not always firing and likely had timing issues that I had to think either Harrington Richards accidentally put out some cylinders with extremely soft metal at the ratchet area.
or
more likely the pistol had been shot a lot and I mean a real lot.
which of course is always more possible with a .22 because of the cheap ammo in the past.

When you think about the mechanics it's a steal prawl turning a pretty light weight steal cylinder so it should last a good long time under normal conditions.

( I did try to find & post that old video that was on YouTube but I was unsuccessful.)

I might suggest going to with a Iver Johnson version of the same gun. I believe they had the design first. And sometimes older is better quality.
