Nothing wrong w/ the long Bbl. I dithered for quite a while myself over that. Wanted the shorter LOP stock module anyway, so I went w/ the compact.

    GB's should work fine.

    MXT200 Aperture Sight
$75.00 (includes front and rear sight)

The Second thing I did, after the Tech-sights, was to neuter the extended mag release.

W/ the std. 10-round mags it is ridiculous. Screws up a very slick and smooth rifle.

Set the new height by depressing the release all the way, and then scribe along the sides at the receiver w/ a pencil. Then, transfer across the faces.

Mask off the protuberance w/ blue tape, nib it off at the transfered line w/ bull-nose cutters (may take a coupla bites), and then sand w/ plumbing sanding cloth over a small block 'till it is a smooth bar button, then finish it w/ green scotch-brite.

Now, the button bottoms flush w/ the receiver.

Took ~ 20->30 minutes, and makes a huge difference.

P.S. the compact stock module w/ its 12.5" LOP is very nice w/ the Aperture sights, as you can really get in close for a big field of view.

They can be had at grab-a-gun or amazon for a reasonable price.

Thanks man. I saw someone do that on YouTube and I might have to try it out. How many rounds have you put through your RAR?

2k maybe. I have several thousand mixed subsonic rounds I got for cheap that I'm running through the Ruger. And a lot of Federal Blue Box that the Ruger has no problems with. My 15-22 freaking hates the Blue Box. Won't shoot more than two in a row without a FTE.

The only issue I've had with the rifle was a failure with the spring on the bolt stop lever. Still shot fine, but if not careful the bolt would slide out while cycling. Ruger sent me the parts (over night!) for free and I fixed the problem in about 5 minutes.

Nice! Glad to hear that it's going good for you. I can't wait to get mines out of jail. I have a variety of ammo that should shoot well with the Ruger so your comment makes me feel a little better. The bolt stop issue you had doesn't sound like too much of an issue? I researched plenty of other bolt action .22's before deciding which one I wanted, Rugers customer service is one of the many reasons I went with the American

Yeah Its the rimfire bolt action. I can't wait to get my hands on it and take it to the range. I will need to find some std velocity but their hard to find. Do you have the standard or compact model?
It is a long story. Started out as a standard. After 20K rounds started throwing nasty fliers. Soooo... I had a gunsmith cut a inch off the muzzle and re-chamber it to much tighter benze chamber. Now the barrel is ~20" long after cutting off a little at both ends. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet since getting it back. We shall see. The CCI std vel ammo goes in fits and spirts.
Right now is a dry spell. But should be better supply soon. At least that has been the pattern. When in stock, buy, buy, buy. I have enough to last me thought summer. So have not been looking to hard.
